Blade rusting?
While I've been pleased with the overall performance and appearance of the Blender I noticed today what appears to be discoloration of the blade - it looks like rust? This is disappointing as it was only purchased six weeks ago. And while I use it almost every day, I wouldn't expect it to rust. I will call KitchenAid customer service to explore options. I'd be interested to hear if other users have experienced similar with their Blender. Follow-up 9March2018 - after contacting KitchenAid direct they replaced the jar. Upgrading to 4 stars from 3.

I love this blender! I bought it for myself as a Christmas gift because my old 40 dollar blender was literally falling apart; the plastic was cracked and warped from occasionally being washed in the dishwasher. I love how heavy and thick the plastic is in this blender's pitcher, it is very well made and I know it will last for years, even if I wash it in the dishwasher. I like that it has five speeds instead of one speed with different names that blend the exact same way. My kids love smoothies, I love putting spinach in their smoothies. When I did that in my old blender you could see bits of spinach in the smoothie, and they usually wouldn't drink it. This kitchen Aid blender works so well, it blends/chops the spinach up so fine you can't even see it! I've also made old fashioned oatmeal pancake batter in it, it wasn't lumpy or even gritty. I am extremely satisfied with this product and would recommend it to everyone I know! Thank you for making a blender that doesn't cost much more than something you can find at any retail store but works ten times better!

I use a blender everyday to make healthy smoothies usually with blueberries. My last KitchenAid blender, used daily, lasted nearly two years. I replaced it with a Ninja blender. The Ninja is great, but should come with a warning label requiring one to consider hearing protection! It is very loud! The problem I have with the Ninja so far is it is not as effective for getting fruit to a consistency that is pleasant to drink. One should not feel like they have to chew the fruit while trying to drink it. It does not matter how long the Ninja runs, it simply cannot process the berries efficiently; leaving peelings and seeds unprocessed. I believe it is due to the position of the blades. They are large and far apart. Warning: THEY ARE VERY SHARP! The KitchenAid blades are at the botton and smaller. The KitchenAid blender by far is superb for making smoothies and you do not require hearing protection. I just replaced my two month old Ninja with a new KitchenAid blender. It cost much less, is user friendly and does a fabulous job for making smoothies.

I researched blenders like I was buying a car - read reviews, looked at different sites, researched details for months. This one had very good reviews and even though I really wanted a glass pitcher, I purchased this KitchenAid because it was BPA free and it sounded like a well made appliance. We have used it a dozen times now and are very impressed. It mixes extremely well and blends frozen fruit and ice easily. The base is heavy duty and you can tell it will last and has some power.
Another plus is there are no parts to take apart and wash - lessening the chance of bacteria growth. The blade is in the pitcher and the bottom is not removable. No O ring or extra pieces. Very easy to clean and a heavy duty plastic pitcher that will hopefully hold up.
I would definitely recommend this product if you are in the market for a new blender.

Very stable and powerful blender. The lid fits snugly, the metal base is sturdy and solid, and the plastic jug definitely feels strong enough to withstand the powerful blending while still being lighter and easier to use than a glass equivalent. I've been using this to blend butter coffee a lot, and it makes silky smooth beverages and works great even with hot liquids. Note that the jug does lock on quite tightly to the base, and while it likely prevents more accidents, it does take more work than I would like to twist the jug off the base. but this is a minor complaint for me. This is likely the most effective blender from this price range.

Here is a well designed blender! It makes fantastic shakes, and handles just about anything, including ice cubes. I use it almost every day and it seems robust enough for the price. I like the way the motor has a soft-start feature that slows down under heavy chopping loads, and then speeds up to full setting as the particles become smaller. Very easy to clean and easy to pour. Just do NOT blend salad dressings in it. The plastic container will absorb the oils and you will play hob trying to get it odor free. DAWN works somewhat, but it can be weeks before you can no longer detect the odor. Overall...a Great Blender! It is easy to use. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to make it work. Put whatever goodies you like into this guy, but stay away from oily things!!! A glass container would be better for that. However glass weighs far more. So I wouldn't suggest that the manufacturer switch from plastic to glass.

I love my new blender. It works great, mixing well and crushing ice, making great margaritas and smoothies. I've used already crushed ice in it, and have found that it does leave some smaller chunks (still small enough to fit through a straw). It might crush better if I began with regular ice. I've used both the pulse options and the various other blending options, and all work beautifully. The pitcher is very stable on the blender motor, and there is no way anyone can shake it around (as some people are tempted to do). This is a very well-made product with a tight fitting lid, pourable spout, and plastic pitcher
