I can't say enough good things about this slow cooker. After many years of a basic model (trusty, still worked etc.), I decided to upgrade to a programmable so my food would stop overcooking since I am out at work for 12 hours. First try was the Crockpot model - disaster! Shut off early and I came home to raw food. I didn't want to spend $200+ (Breville, Cuisinart, Emeril etc.) and sought one with high marks. This Kitchenaid was my next try, based on my good experience with the brand's other appliances. I was a bit nervous since there were no reviews anywhere for it but I took the leap. Great decision! I love it! Easy to use, perfect cooking temp, nice looking too. Highly recommended!

This is by far the best one I have ever owned. I have not used it much, but it cooks the food well and in the time recommended. It does not overheat or underheat. It has a very good thermastat. And cleaning the inner piece is no problem at all. Nothing seems to stick to it. I realize that it costs more than most; but it is worth every cent. If you can afford this one, get it. You won't be sorry.

Every small appliance in my kitchen is from KitchenAid Obviously, I am a die hard fan of their products. However, this slow cooker had been a disappointment. In spite of handling the ceramic insert with extreme care and only hand washing it, it developed a hair line crack. I contacted KitchenAid to see if they would replace it as a customer goodwill gesture. I'm waiting for a response. Judging on the many others who have posted that their inserts have also cracked, I am confident KitchenAid will come through. I will follow up on my post when I hear back from KitchenAid.

KitchenAid replied and told me the insert is available $36.99 plus shipping on their website. They also informed me that there isn't really an issue with the cracking insert. They did suggest that anything put into the insert must be room temperature before turning it on(nothing frozen)and sufficient liquid needed to be added as well. I am not able to find the part number on their website. (8212302G)

Bottom line, I'm a very disappointed customer. I spent over $100 on this slow cooker and used it a handful of times. Now, I am faced with replacing it entirely or purchasing another insert for $70 somewhere else since it's NOT on the KitchenAid website.

I do not recommend the KitchenAid slow cooker.

I wish I had read the reviews before buying this. The crock developed a hairline crack after just over a year of use. Apparently this is a big problem with Kitchen Aid crock pots. Will never buy anything of theirs again.

I was so excited when my husband bought my this crockpot. It's huge-which is great when cooking for a large family or group. But the insert cracks. For no reason. I'm on my 3rd insert and I'm not buying them anymore. It's $60 for a replacement insert! I think I'll use my money on a new one that actually doesn't break.

Unfortunately, this product boils rather than slow cooking food - and that is on the low setting. I have several Kitchenaid appliances, and all of them work beautifully with the exception of this slow cooker. It looks great and is easy to use, but is not calibrated correctly. Several tried-and-true recipes came out terribly because it is literally boiling food rather than slow cooking it. Very disappointing.

I would love to be able to give 5 stars to the KitchenAid KSC6222SS 6 Qt. Slow Cooker with Flip Lid, but I am afraid it will ultimately deserve three stars. Until I have had a chance to thoroughly test it out, I will compromise and give it 4 stars.

I purchased this slow cooker as a replacement for my 15 year-old 3 Qt. CrockPot, which had performed admirably, but was too small for many dishes. Also, I had some concern about the health safety of its plastic lid. The KitchenAid's 6 Qt. size, glass lid, ceramic insert, and attractive stainless steel finish were all positives for me.

After trying out my first dish -- cheeseburger soup with diced potatoes and carrots -- here are my observations about the Kitchenaid Slow Cooker:

-- The controls are easy to figure out
-- The ceramic pot tended to wiggle in the metal base
-- The lid has a rubber (or plastic?) strip that seems to keep steam from escaping when cooking; however, this strip came off while I was washing the lid and required a little bit of effort to thread it back on.
-- The unit gave off a "new Slow Cooker smell" during its first use. Hopefully, this will go away after multiple uses.
-- The hinged lids have springs, so their natural unlocked state is up. If the purpose is to keep heat from escaping, and one wishes to leave utensils in the pot when serving, a lid which stays down would seem to make more sense.
-- The slow cooker tended to cook my potatoes and carrots unevenly. In the case of my dish, the recipe called for a cook time of 3-4 hours on low with no stirring. Although my soup's total cooking time was 3 1/2 hours, I'd say roughly half of my half-inch diced potatoes still had a fair amount of crunch to them, while the other half were pretty close to cooked.
