behemoth grinder I have.
The attachment feels flimsy due to its lightweight materials. I realize this attachment isnt ment for heavy use but attempting to grind small amounts of lamb was cumbersome at best and even small amounts of sinew bound the cutting blade. Tried grinding some bread to make crumbs (following included directions) and again, very slow as the machine is under powered. Works ok with light veg and walnuts but how often do you grind veg? And nuts I'll process in a mini-chop. Returned.
Since a lot of people claimed that it left grey streaks in their food, I spayed the blade, plate, and auger with cooking spray just to lubricate it. This, I felt, should eliminate or at least reduce metal to metal contact. I'm not sure it was necessary, but I didn't have any discoloration at all. Also, for those who experience that, perhaps you have the blade on too tight.
I hooked mine up to a KitchenAid 600-series mixer, and it had plenty of power. It never once bogged down in the slightest.
The only complaint I have is that it would be nice if the filler tube were a little larger in diameter. It really slows you down trying to force meat down that tube, especially after it is ground and you are stuffing it into sausage casings. Still, it is perfect for smaller batches.
Overall, for smallish batches of meat grinding (think a few pounds of meat for a family), it works great!
Build quality and packaging first rate. I’m looking forward to years of frequent use.
