Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Works great! Easy to set up. Easy to clean. Made strong not cheap. I grind my chicken breasts, chuck roasts, and pork roasts. Makes nice patties. You can add your own seasonings.
Bought this stainless steel model to replace the plastic one we had. So much better and durable. Cleans easily. Not dishwasher safe, however! Home grinding meat for burgers and sausage is superior to store ground. You won’t be disappointed.
The attachments arrived the day before Thanksgiving. I had all ready scoped out Central Market & found they had hog casings for sale but when I went to buy them the shelf was empty. The butcher informed me many Seattle families spend black Friday making sausages. What a great idea and Amazon had cassings delivered by Saturday. Our family had a great time and learned a few things. Get a book that has lots of ideas and helpful hints. We got Homemade Sausage Recipes by Peisker & Carter. So glad we got the metal parts grinder because it stays cold for much longer than plastic ever would The bottle brush they give you with the kit is horrible inadequate. We got a stiff bristle brush with with bristles all the way around. Cleanliness is essential and the metal parts cannot go in the dishwasher. Be sure and clean all little parts and around all contacts. Get good quality meats directly from a butcher who will trim the fat accordingly. Do not let your meat or fats get as warm as room air This makes it harder to stuff the sausages and the meat clings to the plunger. We clean and chill all parts before grindings and stuffing. We rolled the meat into cylinders about the size of the chamber before stuffing sausage casings. We then put the cylinders in the freezer for about 30 minutes to an hour. This makes the meat semi frozen and easier to stuff. Don't worry if the diameter of the sausage is a little uneven. You can fix that as you twist it. We did not prick our sausages as we do smoke them. Natural casings are much more forgiving than I thought they would be. I use the smaller black funnel to run luke warm water through the casings before I press it evenly on the stuffing funnel. Be careful not to twist the casing as you acordian it onto the tube. We let the sausages dry uncovered in the refrigerator for about 24 hours before we smoke them. Our entire family was so pleased with the results
I've owned my KitchenAid Mixer for over 20 years and even after steady use it still works and looks like new. I had never purchased any of the attachments for my KitchenAid, but I have a few recipes that require ground chicken so I decided to buy their food grinder attachment. The metal in this grinder is amazingly heavy and sturdy. It works very easily to grind chicken and also I tried making my own ground beef. You do need to follow the easy directions to put the grinder onto the mixer-- if you do it wrong, it won't work correctly. And you need to be careful when washing and handling the grinder and discs because they are really sharp (that's why they work so well!). The dishes I made with the ground meat tasted MUCH better than when using store-bought ground beef. The meat was more moist and tasted better, and also didn't stick as much when it was browned. This grinder attachment will last forever and is well worth the investment!
I was pleased to see that the grinder was well packed which will help with storing parts in the future. It is a piece of cake to set up and use. I ground a chuck steak which went without a hitch except for a tough piece of connective tissue. Next time, I’ll be sure to cut these off. Setting it up and taking it apart is so simple, anyone can do it. Very easy to wash as well. All the parts seems quite sturdy and I’m glad I opted for the metal, instead of the plastic version. KitchenAid is the best!
I have been saying I was going to get one of these forever and now I wonder why I waited so long. THIS IS GREAT and so EASY TO USE!!! Literally, take it out of the box and attach it to the mixer.
My son is a professional bodybuilder and eats LOTS of ground chicken and turkey breast. Seldom can you find that on sale, but I can often buy boneless, skinless breasts for a fraction of the costs, especially hitting BOGOs.
I needed ground pork for lumpia and the store was out. I bought pork loins and quickly and easily made my own ground pork, which I’m sure was better quality than the “mystery” ground pork in the store, plus I saved money. Since then I’ve picked up pork loins BOGO and out in the freezer for future grinding.
This is so simple and quick and I like seeing exactly what is going into my ground meat. I’ve seen recommendations to freeze, or partially freeze the meat, and some people even say to chill the grinder, but I’ve used it with both frozen and non frozen and had no problems at all.
The KitchenAid rep says she puts a folded kitchen towel under the back to slightly tilt forward to keep any juices from running back into the mixer.
I do recommend cleaning immediately after use (and there is a handy dandy cleaning brush) because if you wait, the residue is more difficult to clean if it has dried.

This was a very good purchase as I use the different attachments so much. The ease of use and durability are great. product built stable with no noise during use. I Hardly any storage space need and matches my kitchen aide color perfectly. A very good product.
Works great and fast, I read the suggestion they gave to chill the cut up meat before grinding. I laid the pieces on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet and then sat it in the freezer for a half hour, and it worked well and leaves the grinder easy to clean.
I am not an active cook and used this grinder maximum 10 times mainly for grinding vegetables and soft meat (without bones). The internal metallic part got broken after several times of use. I have contacted KitchenAid support and they said that I need to buy a new grinder, they don't offer any repair service, neither that part is available for sales anymore. What a disappointment.
