I bought this because I was refinishing a piece of furniture that had way too many crevices that would take way too long if I tried to sand it down by hand. It removed the glaze/sealer on the piece perfectly. I was able to apply the new stain over just fine. This DOESN'T remove the color like sanding would, it just preps the surface to allow for stain or paint to adhere. I stained a piece that was an oak color to mahogany color, I don't think that this would work if you're trying to STAIN lighter but it would definitely work if you're going to PAINT lighter. Overall I'm happy with this product and I'll continue to use it for my future projects.

I used this product over a very glossy textured ceiling. As another reviewer did, I rolled on the product over the entire ceiling. The only problem I had was in spots where there was too much product, it would bubble up and peel off. I used some steel wool to scratch off all the problem areas. This stuff seems to add a layer of chalky matte finish over the glossy paint rather than actually degloss the finish. With that said, the kills primer does seem to be well adhered, will post update if it peels at all.

"Chemical" action?

I'm refinishing my Kitchen Cabinets. I bought this stuff based on the Positive Reviews, figured by the testimonials that this is just what I need to chemically sand the Semi-Gloss finish and paint my new preferred coating. I followed the instructions verbatim... and after washing the cabinets as instructed, threw in extra measures to clean them by wiping them down with 99% Alchohol. I let that dry.

24hrs later (no cooking during that time) I applied the 1st coat of Klean-Strip. Applied a 2nd coat... lavishly as people recommended. I didn't see any chemical reaction via either application. Applies a 3rd application + used a Heavy Duty scrub pad. Nothing.

...sniffed the container... NOTHING. No Chemical odor at all.

Based on the many High Star Reviews, I can only conclude that what I received is NOT the product chemical compound solution, but rather a substitution/fraud Customer Return remarketed? Vendor Knock-off?

I would estimate the effect the container of solvent I received is akin to Baking Soda+Peroxide+a pinch of fine Cactus sand and good wishes to not get caught if someone used up the actual product and redistributed non-product in the manufacturer container...

I would return it, though made the mistake of not testing it immediately upon delivery and it's now beyond the return period. Recently, while seeking another product I saw this item on Home Depot's website for $5.98

I deglossed my pine kitchen cabinets for painting. I applied the liquid sandpaper, let sit for about 5 minutes and scrubbed it with a scrubbie pad, then wiped with a damp cloth. The paint applied beautifully. For durability I applied 2 coats. The odor didn't bother me. I had a fan on for air circulation. I would recommend this product to anyone.
