Product Description

The top-rated water resistant Kindle case is now available for Kindle 3. Featured on the Today Show, Reader's Digest, Budget Travel, Wired and more, KlearKaseTM is the only splash-proof Kindle case you'll want to use all the time. It shields your Kindle from accidents, and lets you enjoy e-books in places you wouldn't even bring a paperback. KlearKase for Kindle 3 fits 6 inch Display, current generation Kindle only. Please confirm your Kindle version before ordering (your Kindle's power slider should be on the bottom of your Kindle).

Transparent Design
KlearKase is designed so you will forget it is on your Kindle. It is crystal clear, weighs only 6 ounces, and provides seamless access to all Kindle buttons. Don't cover your Kindle - show it off in the transparent KlearKase.

Life Proof
Use your Kindle worry-free anywhere it may get scratched, wet, dirty or dropped. KlearKase protects at the beach, by the pool, in the tub, while traveling or commuting, and around kids or pets. It is made of strong, transparent polycarbonate - the same material that is used in the canopy of an F22 jet.

Splash Proof
KlearKase is fully sealed from splashes. If you're looking for a waterproof case allowing submersion underwater, consider the tradeoffs. A fully waterproof cases adds significant weight and bulk to the Kindle, so you'll only use it near water, and it won't be protected from unexpected spills.

One Everyday Case
Most splash-proof cases are only used near water. This means their owners buy multiple cases, and aren't always protected from the unexpected spill. Instead of buying multiple cases for different activities, buy KlearKase - an everyday case and splash proof case in one.

Extras & Compatibility
KlearKase for Kindle includes a carrying bag. 1 year warranty. Splash-proof, but not waterproof. Kindle sold separately.

While this case does offer a fair amount of protection for your Kindle when you are out and about, there are several serious downsides to it, as well.

The main issue is that the plastic case totally negates the amazing no-glare no-fingerprint-showing screen of the Kindle. This hard plastic case will have a glare to it even when used indoors in normal lighting. The plastic also smudges up like crazy, something that drives me crazy.

Once snapped on securely, the case offers decent protection from splashes and minor dirt and debris that you might run into if you were out at the beach, camping, or taking it to a cafe to read and have a bite to eat. It is easy to turn the pages and the keypad is still relatively easy to use, but playing games can be a bit difficult due to the thickness of the rubberized material that is covering the keypad.

The other issue that I have with this case is the weight. While it's only a pound, it nearly doubles the weight of the Kindle and does stress my wrists a bit after holding it for a while. I read for hours at a time, so it does tend to be a slight annoyance for me.

If you are the type of Kindle owner that goes everywhere with your device, then maybe you will not have the same issues as we have had with this. I do appreciate this case in situations where it might encounter splashes, dirt, or children, but for everyday usage I do not recommend this case.

I have had a Kindle for the last 2 years.

I bought the original KlearKase for my first Kindle and loved it! I'm a beach goer and love to read there and at the pool but that zipbag just was not doing the trick, so I was so happy to find a case that I did not have to worry about sand, or the occasional splash.

When I moved to the new Kindle I was very dissapointed that there was no KlearKase available yet so I put my name on the notification list and made do with a less perfect cover.

When I did get word that the cover was ready I ordered it immediately and my KlearKase was in my mailbox 2 days later!!!! This new version is very easy to install, no extra pieces like the original, just snap on and you are ready to read!

I have to say, it was worth the wait.

This is my second KlearKase. When purchasing the case for my Kindle 2 I was shocked by the price - seemed quite steep for a plastic cover, but like any name brand item you pay for the name. However, after assembling it (8 pieces I believe), I was impressed with the security it provided the kindle. Heavy duty plastic without the overly heavy weight. I liked that it had sliders on the top and sides to secure the kindle in place and also kept it water resistant and would not come apart unless you took it apart. All in all, Kindle 2 cover was a godsend as I frequently, not on purpose mind you, dropped my Kindle on every surface imaginable. I never had a problem with operating the keyboard or the page buttons through the cover either. Loved it. Well, on to the Kindle 3 cover. Again, price gave me a kringe but after the protection my first provided I had no qualms about the purchase. Well, to my disappointment they had changed the cover. I received a two piece only snap on frame. I have issues with the cover speedily changing pages on me, which I wouldn't mind so much if I read that darn fast and the cover comes apart on me regularly and that is without dropping it. I also have problems with the rubber stopper that covers the on-off switch, this seems to fall off frequently, luckily I find it every time, to date. All in all, I feel like I got ripped off and unless KlearKase goes back to the Kindle 2 type secure assembly I DO NOT ADVISE PURCHASING THIS ITEM.

I got mine yesterday and it is by far the BEST case out there for the new Kindle. It took a few minutes to get it to snap on all the way but once the case was on, I could tell that it was a perfect fit and would offer the best protection. I was really scared to take my Kindle near water or on the beach but now I am not worried about it. I have had a few cases in the past that offer a little bit of protection, but its so easy to shatter the kindle e-ink screen even while its in a bag or if it falls off a table so I am glad they finally came out with a hard shell case. This is a must have!

When I first installed my new KlearKase for Kindle 3, I was afraid there would be too much glare on the screen. There is some glare from the plastic covering the screen, but it is tolerable. It's still much easier to read than an LCD screen.

Installing my Kindle in the case was easy. It came with clear instructions. I did have a small issue though. I have cats and I found that the plastic was attracting stray cat hair like a magnet. I had a hard time getting the case closed without trapping cat hair inside. Also, the cat hair sticks the flexible part that covers the buttons, but I found that if I just get it a little wet I can wipe it clean with my fingers.

Using the Kindle while in the case works just fine. It's no heavier than when it's in the leather Amazon brand kindle cover.
The page turn buttons are easy to press and the keyboard buttons are usable through a flexible membrane. I did find it difficult to reach the power switch. You access the power switch by removing a small plug in the bottom of the case, then stick your finger in the hole to slide the power switch. I found that the opening is a little too small to fit even my pinky finger in completely, so I have to use my fingernail to catch the edge of the switch. After I trimmed my fingernails I had a hard time switching the power switch.
