they are still going strong nearly a year and a half later. still very sharp, pretty much like they were on day 1. i would give a couple more stars but theyre already maxed out!
i made the mistake of cutting some stuff that was wrapped in tape and now they are sticky and hard to open every once in a while but i think a little rubbing alcohol or WD40 should take care of that problem.
Of all the dumb things you can do with them, we were testing the old pair out and pruning a bush outside my front door with them, and the moisture did cause discoloration on the backs of the scissor blades (obviously, they weren't made for this), but hasn't affected the cutting power of that pair at all. They will still cut paper perfectly without tearing, even newspaper or paper towels, probably because they are screwed together so tightly that the cutting edges stay in perfect contact.
Anyway. They'll cut anything, and last forever. I'm sure they're amazing for their intended purpose too.
These scissors cut CAT5/6 wire clean and square, which is important to me. They cut the sheath effortlessly when stripping wires. It's just hard to put a value on the amount of time saved when you are using the right tools for the job. I do a LOT of cable work and these are definitely the right tool for anyone who does any significant amount of work with network or phone cable.
Watch where you put your fingers with these scissors as they are really sharp and stay that way even with heavy use. Also, unlike cheap knockoffs, the screw that holds them together has never loosened up on me. Trust me on this purchase, spend the extra few bucks for the Klein! You will not regret it.
I wish I had noticed when I bought these that there is a stainless steel version too, model # 2100-9, and the price difference as of this writing is ridiculously low at 6¢ (used to be much more):
Klein Tools 2100-9 Stainless Steel Electrician's Scissors Stripping Notches Silver 5 1/4-Inches
Go for those stainless ones instead! And if I were the mfgr I'd consider dropping rust-prone version altogether. Some metallurgists out there may be hesitant towards stainless based on hardness, but judging from the reviews of the stainless ones they are made from a decent stainless steel alloy. By-the-way, when you need to sharpen either, there's a sharpener from the same brand:
