Klipsch KHO-7 - Designed & Assembled in the USA?
on March 6, 2017
The speakers are as described in size and weight. Surface seems to be paintable as stated in Product description.
Sound of the speakers is good for the price range. I do own more expensive brands, as well as some cheaper ones and the Klipsch speakers fall right in between as expected.
General craftsmanship was fine, but I experience a cosmetic issue which is a factor when you plan on displaying these on the patio or any area where you can directly see them.
When unpacking the brand new box, I noticed that one of the speakers was missing the Klipsch logo on the front grill.
I do understand that those things can happen, but wouldn’t expect it from a company that sells high quality HIFI speakers.
After a bit of research I learned that “Designed & Assembled in the USA” does not necessarily mean that the speakers are “Made in the USA”. In fact, most of Klipsch products are “Made in China”.
I contacted Klipsch Customer Support via their website and opened a support ticket. After more than a week without an answer, I called the customer support hotline. The representative on the phone told me, that the problem was already worked on, that they would replace the front grill for free, and that I should receive an answer within a day.
Four days later I still didn’t have a reply and called the hotline again. This time I was told that Klipsch will not honor any manufacturer warranty for items sold by Amazon and I got a quote of more than 30,-$ for purchasing a replacement grill.
After hearing that, I was a bit confused. After all the speakers were purchased as “NEW”, stating:
“All products are covered by manufacturer's warranty”.
Customer service assured me, that the speakers with that serial number were original Klipsch but that I still had to pay for the replacement parts.
I find it extremely disappointing for a Company like Klipsch to not stand behind their products. Especially when their statements read like that:
“Every new speaker that has the Klipsch logo bestowed upon it is designed and engineered with pride at our worldwide headquarters in Indianapolis.”
Sadly it seems like the ‘pride’ part does not go for customer service or quality control .
