The Klipsch 2-way SB-1 bookshelf speakers offer the accuracy, dramatic imaging, and high sensitivity that characterize the "live" Klipsch sound. Whether you're outfitting your listening room with a Klipsch Synergy Series surround speaker system or simply looking for a versatile, high-value stereo pair, the SB-1s more than fit the bill. Use 1 pair for stereo applications or use 2 as the front and rear left/right bones of a surround setup.
Like all speakers in the Synergy line, the SB-1s use the clean and accurate Klipsch square Tractrix horn, which guarantees optimal consistency and smooth frequency response. Every speaker in the Synergy Series has been meticulously voiced to match the others, and the Tractrix horns deliver the kind of high-quality sound normally found only in professional speakers.
Combining high-quality materials, reliable components, and refined, distinguished styling, the Synergy Series represents a strong value in high-performance home entertainment. No matter what the source, Synergy Series speakers are built to reproduce everything from the softest whisper to the most intense, heart-stopping action.
Each speaker uses a 1-inch polymer dome compression tweeter seated in a 4-inch Tractrix horn, along with a single 5.25-inch IMG cone woofer in a cast-polymer frame. Klipsch recommends driving the speakers with no more than 75 watts continuous per speaker (200 watts peak power).

Set-up is incredibly easy! Take out of box, plug in power cord, plug in optical cable to tv and you're done. Took me all of 5 minutes from box to installed.
Now, onto the important stuff, sound. Sound is great and I was very pleasantly surprised about how well this system was able to fill the entire room with clear sound. 3D sound option is kind of a gimmic and will not replicate a true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound but still impressive with how well the soundbar can immerse your room with sound.
The subwoofer is great - Significantly better performance than you'll find with any other soundbar or "Home Theater in a box" system. Love the wireless feature so that you can place anywhere in your room to optimize the sound. I moved it to multiple locations searching for the perfect place and was pleased at how quickly it auto-synced with the soundbar - nearly instantly.
I debated whether to purchase this or one of the Bose systems and I must say that I'm very happy with the decision that I made - Highly recommend!
I love everything about this purchase.
These SB-1 bookshelf speakers were made from 1999 until 2004 and retailed for $250.00.
I recently got a pair of used SB-1's for about $100.00 and they are excellent.
They're almost 13 inches tall and weigh about 9 pounds.
Doing a knuckle-rap test on the speaker enclosure reveals a solid construction and a look into the rear mounted bass reflex port shows large magnets on the woofers with insulation around the inside of the cabinet walls.
Klipsch's square "Tractrix" horn on the tweeters disperses the highs all around you and the 92db sensitivity pulls more volume out of my receiver than less efficient speakers.
Until I got the SB-1 speakers, BIC America DV62si was my favorite medium sized bookshelf.
To be fair, the BIC's have lower bass, but the Klipsch have a more dynamic presence and better build quality.
It doesn't rattle the walls like true surround sound, but it certainly made our family room viewing much more pleasurable!
On the plus side, the highs are nice and bright - it's good as a center channel for voice if that's what you want. Add the sub and I suppose that's why many are happy. I thought the lack of mid-range was too noticeable, but I'm obviously in the minority. I did have my neighbor, who was also excited that I got the Klipsch, sit on the couch and go through the various possibilities (sub, no sub, etc.) with me for an hour. He was also less than impressed. I have returned this sound bar and will try to convince my wife the the floor speakers are worth the improved sound. I really wanted this soundbar to work for our room, but I think the room is too big at 20x18 with an open second floor above.
