I’d heard from a very respectful publication about this product, that it’s one of the few products that really boost the octane. I live in a state where the gas (methanol blend) is unbearable to a carbureted engine. I’ve purchased 100 octane fuel and have tried multiple high octane gas stations, 91 octane is what most gas stations have. I’ve read that the additional octane in higher octane fuel is often achieved by adding, what, you guessed it, more of the additives, not more gas. The gas here just seems to burn with my classic car like it has a lot of empty calories. It also starts to boil very easily, once heat soak hits the engine bay it’s over with. I’d heard from people that using a lower octane fuel won’t have as much additives that they add to today’s gasoline such as butane. I tried using the 87 octane alone in my classic car and detonation occurs after the engine has been running at operating temperature for a while (gas starts to boil aggressively at very low temperatures). I’d also read that Klotz also helps counter the above mentioned side effects of today’s E10-E15 gasoline. Klotz seemed like the perfect solution. So I decided to fill the tank at 2 ounces per gallon with Klotz and 87 octane fuel as suggested 16 ounces when I’ve got the tank 1/2 full, and then the last 6 ounces to top off my 11 gallon tank. I really expected no change, another one of those hopeless experiments I thought. I could tell when the last of the higher octane pump gas had consumed itself out of the carburetor float bowl and the new mixture started coming in, I noticed a definite, significant difference in the combustion, it reacted to the throttle much better, it felt like a longer burn time, like what my engine has been asking for, like gas is supposed to feel like! It also quieted down the engine (as well as electric fuel pump) as a bonus. My next thought was I wish I had a 30 gallon drum of this stuff! I just have to be careful putting it in my tank because it will eat the paint if spilled (I just use a funnel) It doesn’t cut everything out from the side effects of the E10 gas, I don’t think anything can but it has made driving my classic car enjoyable again and that’s enough.

I have a 440 Mopar big block in my Plymouth Duster. It has 11.5 to 1 compression and 210 psi cranking pressure. When I first got it running I ran 93 octane pump gas. I heard a little bit of ping when I rolled into the throttle and it dieseled a few times when I shut it off. I tried Turbo 108 octane booster from the auto parts store and the only way I could get it to stop the ping was to mix it at high concentrations and it was not cheap. I did some research online and discovered that the Turbo 108 and other brands the parts stores sell only raise the octane by points of a number. That means they raise it like .1 so the 93 octane becomes 93.1 unless you dump a lot of it into the tank. The Klotz and other premium boosters raise it by whole numbers. Anyway I mix the Klotz 1 ounce to a gallon and it works perfectly. At $52 a gallon, each ounce of the Klotz is only about 41 cents so it only adds 41 cents to a gallon of fuel. I've been running my car hard for two years now and have had zero failures. No ping and no dieseling when I shut it off. Also worth noting, the pump gas I run has 10% ethanol in it. I have had no alcohol related problems with the fuel system and I store it all winter without draining the fuel. I frequently remove the fuel bowls for jet changes and the carb is spotless inside. I highly recommend the Klotz octane booster.

This stuff is VERY powerful. I cannot emphasize this enough. It tends to have low surface tension, so it tends to creep a little and drip when you pour it. Always use a good funnel and have a rag ready. It almost instantly screws up paint--much, much faster than anything like brake fluid will.

So as far as performance, it absolutely does SOMETHING, even on naturally aspirated motors. Revs tend to be smoother, and my butt feels minor improvement at low RPM cruising. This is where most people spend the most time anyway. I have would be skeptical about seeing peak HP gains with NAs. There does seem to be a shifting of the power curve to the left, though. But I'd be pouring this stuff in a turbo motor all day long.

Doing the math, it's borderline worth it to buy regular gas and boost it to 93 or more with this. Anything past that on most NAs is a waste.

I’ve used this for years. A long time ago I had an ‘82 Yamaha XT 200 motorcycle. A one lung engine. I put it away the first winter, just parked it. The next spring I kicked it over a thousand times. It wouldn’t fire. After pulling the plug and priming the spark plug hole about 5 times it finally fired. A few more times and it ran. I didn’t wanna go through that again, so the next fall I bought some Sta-Bil and ran that through the carb, and put it away. The following spring; the same routine. The &@$)#% wouldn’t start. The fall after that I used some Klotz that I had laying around after racing my snowmobile. I put that in, ran it through, and parked it. The next spring, 3 kicks, and that b_tch took right off!! I’ve used it ever since on all my small engines, not so much for the octane boost but for the chemical stability it gives gas.

I have a small crossover vehicle with a 2 litre engine. But it has 11.5:1 compression ratio. I like the product. Especially when I pull a trailer with my little vehicle, or when I drive it through the mountains. It gets really sluggish on regular fuel when the load goes up. This product solves that problem. Truly noticeable increase in power and throttle response. I have absolutely no issue with the quality of this product but I wouldn't buy Any Octane Booster in a gallon container again. I took about a 3000 mile road trip. I had to bring along a measuring cup and funnel to add Octane Booster in the right proportions. And once used, those had the chemical smell of the Octane Booster that lingered in the vehicle. Also, at least once, the gallon container tipped over, leaking a few drops of Octane booster into my vehicle. That didn't smell very good either. I believe this product and several others like it come in small plastic containers that would be much more convenient to use.
