I'm always asked where my stories come from. There isn't one particular place. It might in a snippet of conversation, a song, a movie, a TV commercial or show. But most come from my life.
The inspiration for Knight on the Texas Plains came from a true incident in my childhood when I learned my playmate who lived beside me had been won in a poker game. The people didn't provide a very good home. The man was very physically and verbally abusive. The woman loved the girl and tried to be a good mother but she was illiterate and spoke little English. My friend used to cry and tell me that one day she was going to find her real parents and ask them why they couldn't love her. I made a vow to give her the happy life that was denied her even if it was in fiction. I think she'd be happy both with this one and a sequel that will come out in July 2018. That book will be Catch a Texas Star. Marley Rose is grown up and discovers the secret Duel McClain kept all these years.
I think you'll like both of these. The 2nd book in this Texas Heroes series (Duel's brother Luke McClain) comes out in Feb. 2018.
