As the line has been cancelled for 11 years and replaced by other Lego Castle themes, I can't see why anyone but older fans who grew up with it would buy this book. If so, these aren't like the Bionicle novels. The story is simple and the dialogue worse than a potential Tommy Wiseau-George Lucas collaboration. The art, however, is new, but close enough in style to mesh with the webcomics and instruction booklets. There IS a canonical discrepancy though, with Santis, Rascus, and Danju bursting through a wall atop a staircase instead of just a wall in the dungeons as in the webcomic. But that really doesn't matter. The story goes from the very beginning to King Mathias' rescue and sending the four knights on their mission, and considering that was only a small portion of the story, when put with the other 2004 book the pacing is a bit odd, making the entire quest and tournament only half the story. Still, this was made for kids and unlike Bionicle, the books aren't the core of the series' story.
Overall, this is a good 15-minute nostalgia trip for older fans but I can't see what else it could offer at this point in time.
I recommend the book for younger readers, or as a read-aloud (has enough pictures to keep them content).
