"The patterns are well laid out, easy to follow, and rated by skill level so it's easy to pick a pattern that suits your needs. The best part of this book is the pull-out section at the back that allows you to easily take the charts with you wherever you go."Love of Knitting

The first pair of socks is knit for springtime. It is a white lace in a silk/wool blend and is lovely. All of the spring socks are knit on at least a size two needle; there is nary a pattern in a size one. Summer socks don't appear too much different to me than the spring selection. They, too, are knit with a wool blend. I love the summer Rhombus socks in orange. They are knit with a wool and bamboo blend on a 0 - 1.5 size needle. The fall socks are a bit darker in color and the first pair, Fall Bouquet, is a lovely orange and red knit with a wool and nylon combination yarn. The needles are size 0 - 1.5 I also love the Inspirations socks, knit with a wool and nylon blend. It's hue is a natural brown and the socks are knit with 0 - 1.5 size needles. The winter socks are very similar to the fall socks and the Christmassy socks in a bright orange are lovely. They are knit with a wool and nylon blend and utilize 0 - 1.5 needles.
There is a nice section on Basics and Knitting Techniques which gives good examples of the basics of sock construction. It even describes toe-up socks on two circular needles and knitting with beads. At the very end of the book is an addendum with all the charts included for those who can't live without charts. (That's not me!)
Overall, this book has a delightful selection of socks that will appeal to sock knitters in every season of the year.
The take away: Lovely hardcover book with many beautiful sock designs: colourwork, lace, and cables. But only medium size is included in instructions. If you are proficient in enlarging sock patterns you will not have a problem, and may even enjoy this book. If you are not, this may not be the book for you.
Thank you very much,
a happy and content customer
