She regularly teaches knitting workshops and exhibits in galleries and juried shows. She lives in Fort Collins, Colorado.

This book has a lot of pros: small size-it's easy to carry around in your bag, binding- it's bound with a heavy duty spiral binding which makes it very easy to open to a page and leave it open for reference, gauge - in the back there is a heavy cardboard stich gauge and needle sizer (extremely helpful!), contents - cover a lot of basics and techniques that you may need to refer back to. The only con I would list for this book is that you would also need another guide for some techinques like different ways to drop or add stitches (the book only shows one). Overall, I would recommend this book for a knitter that may be just starting on one of their first projects, but an intermediate knitter looking for more advanced techniques should look elsewhere.

Literally, the book measures 5" x 7", and the edge is like a ring binder in which the pages flip so the book can be held in one hand. Figuratively, this is helpful guide explains why and how things are done. I like that the pages are thick, glossy paper and durable. I purchased a used but very-good-condition book for a reasonable price. So I am very satisfied.

What an appropriate name for this little knitting "encyclopedia"! Tuck it in your knitting bag and take it wherever you go. If you get stuck on something you can look it up in a jiffy, solve your problem and learn something new all at one time. It also contains metric conversion charts, ruler for measuring stitch gauges, needle sizes, and most other information you might need. The pages are sturdy, plastic coated and the book is spiral bound.
Can't ask for more than that!

I give this book to my students when they have "graduated". A great little book with all the basics. It's compact and the pages are made of heavy card stock which makes it almost indestructible, perfect for keeping in your knitting bag. Helpful when you come upon something in a pattern that you don't know how to interpret. Expert knitters might be able to keep all this knowledge in their head but I can't. It's nice to know that I have a place to go when I've forgotten how to do something.

As a fairly new knitter, I am finding "The Knitter's Companion" very helpful. It is a concise book that seems to cover just about anything you might need to know. It is compact and therefore easy to take along or keep beside you when knitting, without taking up a great deal of space. I ordered one for my daughter, a brand new knitter, as I think it will come in handy and give her a little more confidence as well. This book was recommended to me by my knitting teacher and I'm pleased with my purchase.
