Life happens when you're making other plans and that couldn't be more true for Stefan Lundquist. He had his career and life mapped out for the next 25 or so years. It all started unraveling when his little pixie, Cassandra Myers, asks to be uncollared and then walks away. It was all downhill from there. It takes a near catastrophic event and a good slap up along side of his head from Ian for Stefan to see what's right in front of his face.
Cassie had no choice but to call it quits with Stefan. She had to protect herself since their relationship would never be more than it was. However, fate had other plans and put her squarely in front of Stefan when he truly needs her. She's supportive, caring and unafraid to put him in his place when he does not act in his own best interests. Bravo Cassie!
When Cassie doesn’t renew her contract with Master Stefan he’s left surprised and reeling. They’d be in a D/s contract for the last ten months, renewing it at the end of each month. What Master Stefan failed to see was that his little sub had fallen in love with him.
Cassie knew she was doing the right thing when she ended things with Stefan. Loving him and not being able to show him was slowly killing her. Cutting ties seemed right.
Sure there bound to see one another, they are both members of the same exclusive BDSM club the Covenant.
But when Master Stefan is admitted to the ER after he suffers a heart attack has a way of changing things. Nearly losing your life makes you see things differently and what was staring at you all along.
A phenomenal read as always, Samantha stepped it big time. A huge yes from me.
BDSM is well depicted here, although the book is not overwhelmingly sexual. Cassie and Stefan is a great couple together and I loved that we got to see a Dom going through an upheaval in his life. A change from the always female centric themes.
I do feel the uncollaring of Cassie could have happened later in the book when the reader is more vested in the characters. Having it right at the start took away some of the impact it could have had on the story and a reader's emotional connection.
You don't need to have read the other interlinked books to read this one, but they are worth trying out as well.
Cassie is in love with Stefan but knows he won't commit. The Coast Guard comes first in his life. Until now.
Stefan has been medically discharged. He is lost and is suffering. Ian and Mitch step in for an intervention. Ian also tells him he has a surprise for him at the club. Will Stefan smarten up??
Cassie and Stefan are good for each other, but Stefan doesn't see that at first. It takes him a long time to realize things and he nearly misses his chance three times. He's lucky Man was there to help him pull his head out of his butt.
Overall, the book is sweet and I liked reading it.

Never one to have a committed relationship, Stefan’s life is turned upside with health problems and a certain submissive that has got under his skin. Their interactions provided plenty of aww moments and moments where I required a fan! Sizzling!
Even though I wanted to pace myself and savour all the words, I couldn’t help but zoom through the pages as the story really sucked me in.
It had everything I have come to expect from Samantha’s books, it was sensual, moving, gut wrenching and the Shibari scenes alone were breathtaking. I have to say reading this book was well worth getting behind on my studying for
I was given this book as an arc but had already pre-ordered to add to my collection, this was a brilliant read.
