This is one of the most re-readable, thoughtful, lyrical and enjoyable of all the books we read our son. He loves it. Wonderfully written and illustrated. No wonder it's been around and shared and adored for 50 years.

Ann Rand wrote the book while Paul Rand illustrated. You most likely know about Paul Rand if you're looking here, and if you don't I'm sure some other reviewers or wikipedia will fill you in.

I would recommend all of their books highly, but this one is my favorite... really clever and playful. Gave it as a gift to a friend's child and won me big brownie points.

Don't show your lack of thoughtfulness or taste with another Giving Tree or Hungry Hungry Caterpillar. Sure, you'll get a thank you card... but what they won't tell you is they have like 5 of them stacking up in a box in the basement that'll go to the Salvation Army next spring.

Change it up, take a risk!

This is a beautiful, classic book. The collage-style illustrations are uncomplicated and pretty (it was originally published in 1956) and the writing is a bit whimsical and simple. My son and I enjoyed reading it together, but it was too young for him by the time I discovered it. We've given it as a gift a couple times, though, as it's a lesser known title that most people don't find on their own. It's for younger kids, 2-3. By 4, it was too young. It is a particularly good gift for artistic children or families. Not sure if I'd have bought it for myself, as there's not much to it, but as a gift it's great.

My wife is an Art Director by trade. She was thrilled to find this book, as Paul Rand is one of her all time favorite designers. While we have original prints, we got this for our Niece and Nephews to bring a little fine, classic design into their lives. Gotta start 'em young!

Charming little book. I specially like the part where they talk about how much you still have to learn. Great children's and adult book.

I love the playful design of Paul Rand and this is an excellent way to introduce my kids to good design at an early age so they can see how simple minimalist shapes can tell a beautiful narrative.

This is a great keepsake if you're a fan of the designer Paul Rand and his wife Ann.

Its helpful for graphic designers in the sense that you get to know how to project one line ideas in an exact way that it even makes sense to a 4 year old.

This is a beautifully designed book. Lovely, simple illustrations, with a gentle rhyme that my three year old grandson loves. It reminds me of books I had as a child. A gorgeous gift to share with a small person.
