Kira went to Arizona where her dads friend Orion lived with his MC, and asked him for help He gave her 3 choices--she had a instant attraction to Orion and agreed to be his. Until he tried to make her leave giving her false papers, and $20,000 in cash. Things really heat up then. Enjoyed reading, kept me on my toes
First off the author gives us a very rushed back story, then the H/h are reunited and there is sex, LOTS OF SEX and that is it. Don't get me wrong I love the sex! She touched again VERY briefly on the history. But IMO nothing was explained at all in this novella. I did like it enough to buy Promise me, it's a full length novel. Looks like more of the same with a bit more back story and history. I will keep reading just because I still love the story's when they are being told in between the MANY HOT sex scenes. I would recommend this book with the above warnings.
Kira had been raised by the club since her mom took off and left her and her father at an early age. She was now in college and decided to go visit her father . Crest Tolleson was happy to see his daughter and took her out to dinner where he asked her about her grades and seeing how she was doing. Kira knew something was bothering her father, He offered to get her a hotel room but kira wanted to be with her father later on that night she was in the back of the club house when the first screams and then guns shots started , her farther opened the window and got her out of there quick. He shut the window and then she stayed put and didn’t move or make a sounds when she heard her father being killed. Kira knew how to hot wire cars so she found one and took off. Then she remember when her father told her if something happens to go and find Orion Jackson he was her father best friend until something happened and he was kicked out of the club, so kira fearing for her life heads to the place where her father last said he should be. So what happens when she sees the man who helped raise her? He isn’t happy to see her but he already knows about her father. Orion gives her some choices its up to her on what she wants to do with her life.will she make the right choice?
A very interesting short story which I liked. The story is about Kira (College student, daughter to President of a MC) and Orion (President of the Defiant Motorcycle Club, ex-best friend to Kira's father). There's some serious drama that happens to Kira's family and she ends up seeking out Orion to protect her. This was the basis for the short story. This was on the tame side as far as biker / motorcycle club books go.
I did not understand Orion's initial reaction to Kira when she showed up. I could not understand his 3 offers/choices he gave Kira. This left me shaking my head. I enjoyed Kira's character. It was pleasing that she grew up the MC lifestyle so she knew what to expect. The story also had me wondering about some of the other characters in the MC that I wanted to know more about (Rachel, Teague, Brandon). Looks like I'll have to continue following the series. Overall, it was a quick, enjoyable, good book!
Why Not 5 Stars?
There was not enough development of the relationship between Kira and Orion to get my buy in on the love between them. Their relationship was more of Uncle/Niece and they had been apart many years prior to Kira walking into Orion's bar. I'm pretty sure they only had 1 date and did not have many other interactions. Seemed like Orion was gone or busy most of the time, so the falling in love piece was not believable.
Unfinished Business - What the heck happened between Orion and Kira's father? What was Ruger's beef with Kira's father?
Not enough edge and rawness for a motorcycle club book. I do love reading about the darker side of the MC world. The curses, sex, music, violence, etc. This was tame and I wanted more.
I can't wait to read the next one in this series
