I was particularly struck by this quote when I read it in the book from Professor and Creator of The Mindfulness Center of Medicine, John Kabat-Zinn says, “You don’t want to wake up twenty years later and find that you put your ladder against the wrong wall.” Well, that is exactly what I felt had happened to me. Thanks to this author and her work, I adjusted the placement of my ladder and let some of those things go that I once thought were so important to my “happiness.” I say yes to commitments only when I really want to do them and know I can with my time constraints, I left my “successful” career to focus on family and challenging experiences that are rewarding; what a surprise - I am even better off financially than I was before. None of this is easy and I am very much still on my journey, but the fact that I embrace this journey and am starting to see the benefits of gratitude, manifesting and acknowledging there is so much more I am supposed to do than I have yet accomplished, gives me a sense of peace and contentedness that I didn’t know was possible even a year ago.
I plan to come back to this book very regularly to keep me on my path and to continue to open my mind to be willing to accept in all the good that is out there. And I will never let a day go by without doing the Mirror Exercise again. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who simply wants to love their life.
I am especially moved and inspired by Kimberly’s vulnerability and honesty in sharing her own story of transforming loss and confusion into clarity, faith and courage.
From her own personal experience, she gives the reader permission and inspiration that they too can rise up in their own life". - Joy Stone
