Top customer reviews
I have plenty of public domain books I load onto the device using the freeware app Calibre, so I don't have to use the Kobo market. Page turning is speedier than with older ereaders I've tried. The Kobo caches pages, so it doesn't do a full refresh on every page turn, meaning it changes pages faster and there isn't the black flash between every page. The books in the Kobo market are kpubs, which, I believe, is their own proprietary format. Adjusting page margins only works with this format, and not standard epubs. Page turning is also faster with kpubs, because the ebooks are split into smaller sizes, and custom fonts only work with kpubs. You can split epubs into smaller chunks, with Calibre, which speeds up page turns, but this can be problematic when reading the ebook, when you get blank pages occasionally.
I give it only four star because Kobo could improve the search tools, adding filters (language, price, ....). But anyway I absolutely recommend the Kobo eReader Touch!
I was wondering wether I would place my virtual books - in my iPad or in an e-book, such as Kinde, Kobo or Nook -, and I realized that Kobo allows me to have both. No matter if I'm using my desktop, my iPad or my Kobo, I can access my books the very same way - changing fonts, margins, adding notes and highlights, and have all those features sync.
I believe touch e-paper is the future, and Kobo Touch really makes it real. Makes it easy. That's why I love my new e-book, and that's whay I recommend it.
