I needed this tool for work, and have used it about 6 times. The build quality is ok and it does the job fine. Price was the main factor for me. It is in my toolbox now and I expect I'll be using it for years.

I do a lot of work with 35, 40 and 41R chain and this makes it a dream to get the connecting link installed, especially on some real tight, not adjustable chain assemblies. Haven't used it on anything larger, but is should work up to 60 pitch. Makes my life a lot easier. I would recommend it to anyone that works with chain.

This chain holder works great. It makes chain assembly much easier when in odd positions and can pull chain tight enough to eliminate the need for half-links in some cases. I just wish I could find a larger version!

I occasionally work with chain and never saw the need for a 'holder'. Since I had several projects to do at once, I ordered this clamp. I am well impressed with it. Very simple in design, it saved me a lot of time and frustration in putting in master links. Well worth the money.

Too big for #25/chain. The tips simply do not fit between the plates. I was able to make it work with careful grinding of the tips, including an appropriate radius for #25 rollers, and now it works well. It probably would not work now for much larger chain, but I only use it with #25 and #35.

I suspect this would be too flimsy for much larger chain. When I pull #25 chain tight, the knob gets pretty hard to turn, but appropriate for light chain. It is hard to believe that this would be adequate for chain three times as large.

I recently put chains on 3 different machines. Each machine took 6 chains. Some of the chains were a bear to get connected or too loose if a whole link was added. One of the chains ( a very short piece in a tight location) took two of us 45 minutes to get connected. Later in the rebuild, I realized that chain needed to come back off to do some adjustments to the machine. That is when I searched and ordered this tool. By myself, I was able to reinstall the chain in 3 minutes. I consider the tool "paid for" after this single use, but look forward to using it in the future.

It didn't fit no. 25 chain as advertized, but it was easy to fix with a bench grinder and 5 minutes. Works well, but seems flimsy. These two issue brought it down to 3 stars. Had it worked with no. 25 chain without modification, I'd give it 4 stars on quality.

I work a lot on go karts, and dune buggies. Buying them fixing them and selling them. This is a huge helpful tool. Picked it up for 10 dollars which is good enough price even just for a single use. But I have used it about 10 times now and still holding strong. Must have if you do a lot of chain work.
