Always on the lookout for new healthy items to incorporate into the groceries, I was pretty excited when I picked up a box of this mix (Buttermilk & Honey) at Target. Finally got the chance to use some for breakfast this morning and "attempted" to make waffles. Well...all I can say is that the experience was a bizarre combination of frustration, disappointment and satisfaction. I don't think I've ever actually felt this ambiguously about a product before.So let me start with the ONLY positive here: it's tasty. And I'm going to assume that its status as a healthy alternative to your traditional pancake/waffle mix is a given, but these days, it seems that just about anything and everything is on the news for suddenly being a health hazard so I won't hold my breath.Now for the negatives, of which I'm sad to say there are a few:1) It's pricey. This fact alone would likely put many off from the get-go considering how high the cost of food (especially wholesome food) has become. What adds insult to injury is the following point on my list.2) You will probably need to use way more mix than what the instructions tell you to use. For waffles, I followed directions exactly: 1 cup of mix with 1 cup of cold water. Not sure if the water was not cold enough or what, but the result (as you can see in the photos) was nothing short of comically bad. I used a non-stick waffle iron; need I say more? So we tried again, this time with a brushing of oil. We at least managed to get a formed waffle this time, but only because of the NEXT point on the list.3) Like science? Then have fun experimenting with the right ratio of batter, mix, and water. If you follow the directions on the box, which mislead you into believing this is a braindead-simple process, you'll soon learn that the result is practically water. The batter is so thin that you will pretty much end up with a paper wafer. You'll have to tinker around with it to get the right consistency and I'm sure this is exactly how you want to spend your morning when people are hungry and have other things to do.So while I appreciate the great taste and quality of ingredients, I can't say the same for the actual preparation of the product. For the price you pay, the hassle is an unexpected letdown. I will update my review as I continue trying different cooking methods (like pancakes next time), but the verdict right now is a halfhearted thumbs down.

Since I personally eat low-carb, I don't eat the waffles I make from this mix, but am tasked - nonetheless - in making them for my family. My son, who is an incredibly picky eater, seems adverse to anything remotely healthy, however he gobbles these down like there will be a shortage! I have the  Cuisinart WMR-CA Round Classic Waffle Maker  in which I use this mix. The instructions are plain: One cup mix, one cup COLD water (I use it from the fridge). The only change I add to this is a couple teaspoons of vegetable oil. The mix is thin, as it ought to be for waffles, and I use my waffle iron on setting 3 (family finds 4 too well done for their liking). I've never had a waffle stick and they come out perfect! The one cup:one cup ratio results in 3 and a half waffles, using a half cup measuring cup to measure what I put on the iron. My son likes the little half one, as it looks like a star on top of his waffles. I take them off the waffle iron with a pair of silicone tongs, and I do spray the grill down with Pam before using for safety's sake, but don't think it's needed. The convenience of this product is, in my opinion, well worth the cost; buying buttermilk always ends in waste for me (cause I only used it for waffles), and the fact that I can mix it up quickly without eggs or other ingredients is why I originally chose this product. The time it takes to plug in the iron, mix up the mix, and finish making the waffles is not much more than the Eggos in the toaster, but FAR more tasty (according to family members' sworn statements) and FAR more healthier in my opinion. Can't recommend enough!

I saw this mix on an episode of Shark Tank last year, and have been meaning to try it ever since. I will admit, I hesitated ordering it because they were sold in a three pack, and I was a tad dubious about how they'd taste. ( I should add here, I am NOT a huge fan of "traditional" pancakes that most Americans love. I was raised on Swedish pancakes, having parents of Scandinavian descent.) So, I generally prefer a lighter, thinner crepe-like pancake than most people. Today, I think that has all changed!
This stuff is amazingly simple to make - one cup mix plus one cup water - and produces a thin batter that is reminiscent of the type of pancakes I'm used to. You can add extra mix if you prefer thicker pancakes, but for me these were PERFECT by following the directions on the box. I used a little Pam Baking spray on the pan each time I made a batch, and one cup made three batches of four "silver dollar" type pancakes, plus one large regular size pancake.
These were a HIT with everyone in the house (we even shared one with our dog who was about to chew the tablecloth up if we didn't share!) The "traditional" pancake lovers here remarked on how light and delicious these were, and I was pretty surprised at how much I loved them.
I opted for butter and  Pioneer Valley Marionberry Syrup on mine (pure NIRVANA!) and the rest (including the dog) had butter and  Coomb's Pure Maple Syrup  on theirs. Everyone was VERY pleased, and I used every last drop of batter to make myself one final pancake to soak up the marionberry syrup on my plate. These will definitely be a new staple around here, and I'm now actually thinking "I ONLY have three boxes?" Yep, I think it'll be time to order more of this soon if I continue to devour them like this morning.

I've been eating this Flapjack/Waffle mix for a long time now and I've never bought another brand of mix since then, not to say i wouldn't try something new but its that good. Its got a nice consistency, perfect touch of sweetness and excellent flavor with the Buttermilk, Honey, and light touch of Vanilla. Add fruit for a real treat. I use to buy this mix from my local store for $4.99+Tax Per a box until i found this great deal on amazon with free super saver shipping. Delicious and quick only requiring water makes it very easy to deal with. The quality is unbeatable and they use natural ingredients. All in all this mix is where its at and never disappoints. I eat Flapjacks on a regular basis and this is the only mix I've found that isn't filled with crappy ingredients such as Modified Food Starch(GMO'S), Nitrates, Artificial Sweeteners, Bleached Flour and Fillers. Everything this mix is made of belongs and is balanced to perfection. I would recommend this mix to anyone that can appreciate a good Flapjack/Waffle mix. Tip: Pair this with Hidden Springs Maple Organic Vermont Maple Syrup, Sold on Amazon, for one Hell of a Breakfast.

I absolutely love this pancake/waffle mix. It's great that it only requires water to mix it up and the ratio of mixture is 1:1 so you can easily adjust the amount of batter you need (I often cook for just myself at breakfast and am happy to not have to waste extra batter or try to refrigerate it and force myself to eat pancakes the next day). Another huge bonus is that it actually has a fair amount of dietary fiber in it for a baking mix, and to top it all off there are NO TRANS FATS-- an absolute win. The pancakes and waffles taste hearty and are overall delicious, you sort of develop a taste for them. They aren't quite as crisp on the exterior as some other pancakes, but then again, they are actually decent nutrition wise and that more than makes up for it. The reviewiers are right....WATERY. Had to add more mix to the water than it says. Then you get a not crisp...but chewy waffle. The taste was good , condering its lower in sugar than most store brands. Tasted the buttermilk and honey both. Will not be buying again....because adding more mix doesn't make it cost effective.
