I cleaned the barrels before firing to minimize dieseling and reduce the break-in time. I sighted in the .177 barrel first with about 20 shots, then I killed a squirrel the with my first shot. I got 5 more with that barrel, then switched to the .22 with similar result. I seem to have better knockdown with it, since fewer squirrels are limping away after being hit. (My aim might also be getting better.)
I can't compare this to anything else, but I can't imagine it being any better for what I needed. I'm obviously not a marksman, but I shoot tight groupings with this (at 10-15 yards), and less than 10% of my squirrel shots have missed completely. The 4x32 scope is fine for my yard, since the longest shots are 15 yards. It is very clear and sharp (except at very close distances). Adjusting the scope was easy. I was careful to tighten all screws on the rifle and scope, since other reviews (and videos) indicated that could be a problem.
I cleaned the barrels using a loop of 30# fishing line to pull the cleaning patches through the barrel. I saw that on an instruction video, and it worked just fine and costs $0.
Overall, this seems to be a great rifle and adequate scope (for my short range needs) at a great price.
Got one and VERY accurate, as good or better them most 22s to 100yeds, BUT they cheapped out on Owners Manual, worst I have ever seen, on anything. Would be a 5 if they did real owners manual, had to look up trigger setting on line. Scope is adequate but not top of line, this is a heavy gun, requires muscle to cock it. NOT a toy for kids, power and shoots like 22, Watch out for prices as the vary all over the place, If accuracy issue, is probably scope mounts not gight enough as that is weak point of whole systems.
Excellent shooter in both cals, but now stick with 177 as seems to work best, one large who shooter at 25 yards for five shots, easy hit on pepsi can at 50 yards. Good buy with two barrels, do with they same with open sights mounted for hunting as small game not easy to use with scope in cover. Good buy, patience to start but is heavy NO Sling mounts, lousy owners manual and prices vary like crazy, would buy another one.
NOTE REVIEWED MOD ON July 1 13, Gun GUN HAS LOST TIGHT GROUP, NOT SURE IF SCOPE OR WHAT . VERY DANGEROUS "SAFETY" AS IT IS INSIDE TRIGGER GUARD, FORWARD TO FIRE, CAN PUSH TO "OFF" IF WEARING GLOVES OR SUCH. VERY DANGEROUS, MORE SO IF TRIGGER SET FINE. WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE.
