I love this fish bowl, the shape, size, sturdiness. BUT this stain that appears around the top of the bowl has proven non-remoevable! I'd love for someone to tell me how to get rid of it. I tried lime remover and even toilet bowl cleaner!
I bought a second one and yes though I put in a tiny water pump to circulate the water its forming again in less than a month. Ugh!

I purchased this plastic fish bowl on September 21, 2014 because I was looking for some sort of a fish bowl in order to make a terrarium to give as a gift. I actually wanted to buy a glass bowl for my terrarium but everything I looked at cost too much. I just wanted something simple to use for my terrarium & something that would look nice too. Well I came upon this 1.5 gallon plastic fish bowl & looked it over several times & decided against it because it was plastic & I really thought it would just look cheap. But the high cost of glass drove me back to the plastic bowl again & I decided that since it was under $10.00 & eligable for Prime shipping I could at least give it a try." So I purchased one. Then as I was looking around for the things I would need to put together my terrarium I decided that I would really give the plastic bowl a try & I went back & ordered a second 1.5 gallon plastic fish bowl. I am a member of Amazon Prime so the 2 plastic fish bowls I had ordered on the 21st & was through prime were delivered on the 23rd as promised. The 2 bowls came in seperate boxes & both were packaged very good with bubble wraping & the first box I opened had a perfectly round plastic fish bowl all shinny & perfect. I was pleasantly surprised at how pretty that clear plastic bowl was, it looked just like glass! But it wasn't. The 2nd box I opened up also had a clear plastic bowl in it but instantly I could tell that there was a problem with the bowl. One side of it was caved in & it had a big dent in it! I thought "Oh No!" But I took it out of the box & put my hand into the bowl & popped the dent out & the bowl was as good as new! With my 2 plastic fish bowls I set about putting together my terrariums. I had a small clear glass vase that I decided to also use as a terrarium so I put 3 terrariums together & after I was done you could not tell just by looking that 2 of the bowls were plastic! I gave one of the plastic bowl terrariums as a gift to a friend & he just loved it! That was his very first terrarium & he was very eager to show it off! So the 1.5 gallon plastic Tom Tominaga fish bowl was a great hit & I really liked it & gave it 5 stars, plus I am going to order some more to make more terraiums! Very nice plastic fish bowls amazon, you did it again! Thank you!

Perfect alternative to fragile glass

I needed an alternative to a glass bubble bowl to keep marimo moss balls in so that I could allow my cats to drink without worrying about breakage. This bowl is the perfect answer. Until you touch it, you can't tell it's NOT glass. It's HUGE, so there's plenty of water for four thirsty kitties. And I don't have to worry about them accidentally breaking it if they decide to go fishing for moss balls or bump up against the bowl or whatever. The moss balls also seem to be quite happy in the bowl, they've all grown noticeably.

After a month I began noticing that a film was growing over the top of the water very quickly after the water was changed. Then the bowl became getting cloudy. The film was looked like a very thin sheet of plastic and I am sure that that is what it was. Very disappointed with this bowl. I expected it to hold up better and not harm my fish, but he is not doing well because of the bowls deterioration. Unfortunately it is to late for me to get a refund. If you are wise you will not buy this bowl!

Mine arrived with several dents. A few of them popped out, but a couple of them are permanent. I did not bother to send it back because my purpose in purchasing the product was less about aesthetics and more about serving a somewhat limited purposed. One of my university orientation leaders wanted to do an activity requiring students to pull a question out of the fish bowl and I just needed to buy something at the last minute. I've used it for name and question drawing activities since and the dents don't really bother me, but it's still a fault of the project so I feel as though it bears mentioning. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it so watch the pricing. If you're actually going to put a fish in it and have the bowl out on display, you might want to consider checking out other reviews to see if this is a regular problem.

Perfect cheap plastic bowl for my needs

The bowl is bigger than I thought it would be, which is a good thing in my case. I would rather oversize than under. Bowl is as Christine D. mentioned in sizes in the questions area. It appears to be made of a relatively durable plastic. It arrived with a dent in one side of the bowl, which many others have mentioned in their reviews. I easily popped the dent back out and there is no longer any issues with the bowl.

The bowl has 2 seams on the sides where the plastic was fused together. On the bowl I received, they are quite smooth and barely noticeable. Everything seems to be well made and there are no jagged edges or anything. It's exactly what I had hoped for in a cheap, plastic bowl.

For your information, I am using this plastic bowl to house 2 Marimo moss balls and a bunch of fun seascape decorations in my office.

I bought this cheap plastic fish bowl to hold my sea monkey pets. It's a little bigger than I imagined from the online pictures: the size of a basketball with the top shaved off. It's plastic, although I wish it were glass. The plastic is firm enough, but not unbreakable. I have a feeling I'll need to refill the tank water in this fish bowl many times a month, due to the open top allowing the tank water to quickly evaporate. I originally had my sea monkeys in the included fish tank with cover, which didn't evaporate that quickly but it did need consistent refilling.
