I then mounted 2 guns - one light and one heavy - and found out quickly that they banged around side to side and back and forth quite a bit. It was apparent that the plastic flooring that came standard with the Ranger did not provide enough support for the loaded rack. I then called the manufacture and asked if their was a optional piece they sold to attach the column to the dash to keep it secure. The gentleman in CS was very nice but said there was nothing they could do on their end, and that a metal floor would be better. I do not recall seeing that as an advisable piece of information anywhere before the purchase. I decided to keep the rack after coming up with an idea to make it more secure. I took a rubber cup holder sold at auto part stores and used it as a buffer to the dash and then attached strong wire/line on each side of the column and screwed each wire into the dash (screws were already there). It looks a little odd - and homemade - but so far it is working. Not sure how long the cup holder will last. Kolpin should design a molded rubber bracket about 6-8" deep with guide lines to provide additional support with those that do not have metal flooring.
If you send me your full name and address, I will send you a replacement set of straps.
Sorry again for your inconvenience."
I received the replacements within a few days of sending him my shipping address. Kudos to Kolpin for good response to a customer concern.
The rubber strap has already broken in less than a month form vibration and pressure.
