when 128 Sd cards came out I bought one of the brand name cards for $175 and after a few years it stopped working properly.and I am out that 175.

i own several Komputerbay cards and one of them failed after a few years and it was replace at no charge to me.

whenever I take important video I try and get it off the card ASAP. I then backup the first hard drive to a second one and every two weeks I take that second drive and put it in a safe deposit box. I take the one that was in the box and backup the data on the first drive again.

I also have more than 1 sd card with my camcorder incase of a failure. (and I usually have a second camera in the car for the same reason.
(do I need to mention spare batteries?)

Great Read Speed, So so Write Speed

This review is about the 128GB variant. I wish amazon would quit combining reviews for different products!

I tested this in a Transcend UBS 3.0 SDXC adapter plugged into USB 3.0 b/c my brand new Lenova Yoga 2 Pro put its build in card reader on the USB 2.0 bus for unknown reasons. It has 3.0 but puts the internal card reader on 2.0. Go figure.

Anyway, it tested at 90MB/s Read (great) and 16MB/s Write (not so great but still meets UHS I spec of minimum 10MB/s). I used the free ATTO benchmark test tool. The best cards would hit about 45MB/s Write.

For those complaining about real slow performance, you are probably using a USB 2.0 reader or your internal reader on a 2.0 bus. USB 2.0 never hits its max spec of 480Mb/s (60MB/s). When I tested in my internal card reader on the 2.0 bus, performance dropped to 25MB/s Read. In a 2009 Macbook Pro's reader, it was a little worse.

Also, for those of you timing simple file folder copies, if you have a bunch of little files, it will be a lot slower than when dealing with big files. You can see that also using the ATTO tool which sweeps through different transfer sizes.

UPDATE: I notice the product description in the title claims 60MB/s Write. No way! I'm lowering from 3 to 2 stars for false advertising!

I live in Alaska and like to take time-lapse shots of the Aurora. Many times it is 20 degrees below zero, and the camera might take pictures for as long as 4 hours at a time ... sometimes longer. Now, at one picture every 10 seconds (for that many hours) it takes a large gigabyte card to keep-up with all those photos ... and a dependable one — the average image size being around 40-50 megabytes apiece on the Nikon D800E. I have used the KomputerBay Professional 128GB card now for a couple of years, having taken many thousands of shots with it under the most demanding conditions, and I can positively recommend this one as large enough to handle my needs, and dependable. Since I use a Nikon D800E, I have the SDXC 128GB card, AND the CF 128GB card by KomputerBay to handle any overflow. I liked them so well that I ordered 2 more of the SDXC cards, and another one of the CF. If you have any doubts about the quality of this card, ask yourself if you will be shooting at -20˚F for 4-8 hours ... because, I promise you, they have held up well without a single error ... recording thousands and thousands and thousands of shots, without a single problem for 2 years under these harsh conditions. I'd say that's a pretty good recommendation for KomputerBay's 128GB SDXC and CF cards!.

This card worked BEAUTIFULLY for about two weeks. It was fast and responsive. I began to trust it like my other SANdisk and PNY Professional X cards.

What a mistake... M I S T A K E ! !

I had backups of most of my content but lost an entire folder of pictures/movies that I hadn't been able to backup yet.

I literally was planning on writing a positive review of my experiences with the Komputer Bay card when I returned from my travels. Well, ironically the day I was traveling back is the day it died.

>More detail for the interested< The day I was traveling home was when the issues started. My laptop popped up a warning about the SD card being ejected which it hadn't. So I ejected it and popped it back in and it started to work again... then said it ejected.

I returned home and tried again and the SD card displayed briefly then disappeared. I repeated the insertion attempts and was able to copy a few files off before the drive started to hang (that is, explorer hung trying to access the drive). I waited for it to stop and at that point the drive was not in Explorer. Reinserting would cause the same issue with Explorer.

So I took it to another computer - same thing. Then another one - same.

To confirm I didn't have a freak of dead SD readers, I took another SD from SANdisk and inserted it into each and confirmed they worked perfectly.

I did a full test on this card before I started using it, and do periodically test it again, but I have had 0 problems with it and been using it for 5 months. Not a single hiccup and the speed is great. Used with my GH4, which has pretty demanding bitrates, I've never had an issue. If writing to the card from my computer (via USB 3.0 card reader) I usually get about 56MB/s and reading is usually around 75MB/s. I really couldn't be happier. I think this company's QC is probably not the best, but I figure if you do a full test every now and then, chances are you're going to be fine with this card. I have been!

And... Cue the update.
Worked fine for a couple years of regular use, but started having the odd error here and there. Would run a full test of all sectors periodically, as I was aware that these cards are pr Me to failure. Recently started noticing a lot more frequent errors. Did a full check and next thing I know the card couldn't be read. Thankfully it didn't die with anything on it.
