My friend just bought one of these. It was her first guitar. I tried to play it and I don't believe I have ever played a worse guitar, including the plastic guitar that came with the game Power Gig. The neck was twisted, with extreme fret buzz on the first three frets on the low E string as well as other places. The frets are not level. This is so bad that the 12th-14th frets all play the same note across the high side of the neck, as well as doubled notes and muted notes in several other locations. These issues probably wouldn't be as noticeable if the action wasn't set to less than .5mm. The strings are practically laying against the frets when properly tuned. All of this adds up to a completely unplayable guitar that would cost more to repair than the purchase price. Stay away!

These can be good guitars but they need to be setup. Spend a little mor and get one from a dealer, not a drop shipper like Amazon or the like. They work strictly off volume and don't take the time to even inspect their guitars much less set them up which includes adjusting the neck, adjusting the string height, dressing sharp fret edges. These are important if you want a good easy playing instrument.

It looks good from a distance. Up close you will notice that the fretboard is made of white plastic, painted black on top. The paint job is just okay, not great -- I could see un-even edges. I am not sure how long the paint will last before it wears through.

The bridge is made of hard pressed paper board, by the look and feel of it -- definitely not wooden (the guitar strings were cutting into it fairly easily). I expect the bridge will not last long.

The strings are okay -- a little discolored at first, but the discoloration has worn off by now. The tuning machines were greasy and sticky (inside and out) and had to be cleaned.

On the positive note -- the neck has an adjustable truss rod, which I have adjusted to reduce the action a little.

I've tuned it to D, same as my Jasmine S34C. The Kona sounds decent, but not the same as the Jasmine (which is better). I am keeping the Kona at my office to allow me to practice a little during lunch break.

A few dollars more can buy you a guitar with a real wooden fretboard and bridge.

The guitar showed up on time, but the front panel is not fixed to the bottom of the guitar. On top of this the neck is bent forward. This makes the guitar awful to play because its impossible to tune well.

I bought this guitar on a spur of the moment decision to use as a travel guitar. I really did not need it, I have 7 other guitars but the price seemed to good to pass up. The action is good out of the box and has a nice sound that is surprisingly loud for a parlor size. My only compliant is the strings that came on it were rusty from shipment but that was easily fixed. If they are all like this guitar you can not go wrong for the money just expect to replace the strings.
