The Z-Bar Lamp, a super sleek lamp about as wide as your finger, longer than your arm, and ultra-adjustable. 66 super-bright LEDs provide a strip of bright white light with low heat, minimal electricity, no bulky head, and a super long lifespan. Use the weighted stand to place it anywhere on your desk, or use the desk clamp and take up almost no desk space at all. This gift combo comes with one microfiber cleanse cloth, a perfect company for your desk lamp to keep it brand new and shiny always without causing any scratches, and one clip light, creatively designed to keep your hands free. You can clip to visor, seat belt, handles, headrest, vento and anywhere. Very user friendly. Ball-and-socket joint can swing the torch in many different directions. And, the light and the clip can be separated into two parts for the convenient of daily use. Require 3 AG13 batteries(Included).

-It is amazingly skinny so it doesn't clutter the air space around your desk.
-Very little heat is generated which means you don't have to worry about burning your fingers when you adjust the light.
-The total weight of the lamp is minimal (a few pounds at most) so it easily clamps onto the end of my desk. The clamp itself is very tiny. This frees up more desk space.
-The light output is plenty adequate.
-The major negative is that the on/off buttons are located near the base which means you must reach all the way across your desk to access them especially if you use the clamp. If you have desk stuff in the way which is one of the reasons to use the clamp in the first place, then it is cumbersome. If the on/off switch were located near the LED's, this would make a much more user-friendly design. You do have the option of using the circular desk stand which would bring the on/off switch slightly closer to you but this takes up desk space.
-Price. Not outrageous but it certainly makes you think twice when you can get a perfectly adequate non-LED lamp for $100 less.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. The on/off switch annoyance isn't that big a deal to me because my desk is relatively clean.
-Thin and Stylish
-Good lighting for a specific work surface. (Suitable to illuminate your work surface, but not so much for general room lighting)
-Good light temperature (color)
-The knobs for adjusting each joint were very tight (I had to take a screwdriver to them to loosen them up).
-The knob at the base joint needs some room to swivel. The back of my desk is up against the wall, and this knob prevents it from swiveling one way. I'd recommend at least 1" clearance behind it to give a full range of motion.
-Cost (I still can't believe I just paid this much for a lamp!)
Overall, I'm happy with this.
On the negative side, it gives off noticeably less light than my previous single 16" long 15 watt fluorescent lamp. You can angle the lamp to give a wider spread, but then the bright LEDs will shine in your eyes. You generally want to angle the lamp so you can't see the LEDs. The top of the lamp opposite the LEDs does get a little warm. There are no replacement LEDs, so this is a one-time throw away lamp.
As previously mentioned, the location of the on/off buttons on the arm near the base is a curious engineering gaffe. It would have been much more ergonomic to locate them on the top near the LEDs. Since this lamp doesn't give off much light unless it is close to you, you can assume the top will always be close to you, but the base may be across the table, especially if you use the clamp. Having the buttons at the base forces me to clamp the lamp to the near side of my desk, meaning it sometimes gets in the way.
Even with all the negatives, I would still recommend this lamp for general use. I would not recommend this lamp for applications where very bright light is needed. As of 2007, LED technology isn't quite "there" yet.
But, in the first lamp I have had the failure that was described in an earlier review. It began flickering then shut off. It now will stay lit for about 30 seconds when you first turn it on and then shuts itself off. The high rating on MTBF on the LEDs is meaningless if the switch only lasts six months.
I am going to see what the scoop is on repair. If I can get it repaired, I'll up my rating, because when the light works it is great. If not, I will give it 0 stars and wait for my investment in these lights to be worthless in another x months.
