Bottom line: If you have phone cases with socket openings smaller than the plastic docking piece, you'll have to remove it to charge your phone on this stand. With more protective cases that are difficult to remove, using this stand might not be worth the hassle. It's a beautiful stand, but if you use cases, you'll have to be very selective about the cases you buy to use it.
My only complaint is that when I plug my phone in to it, it does not switch over to Dock Mode on the phone as one would assume it would being that this is, well, a dock. If I want it to be in dock mode I have to manually set it either before or after placing it in the device.
I double checked all my settings on the phone and it is set to go in to dock mode when plugged in to a dock so I am unsure as to why it is not. I am guessing the pins in the cradle were not set to automatically connect to dock mode when plugged in. I emailed their support team a few weeks back to confirm this, but have yet to receive a response.
In the end I still like this stand. It's sturdy and in spite of my Note II having a cover, it still mounts easily on the receiver. I only need to fold the cover to the back to keep it from flopping about.
