A friend got sick and wanted to start juicing for health reasons. I gave her my Omega J8005. Which left me with the Koolatron again. The Omega J8005 have a 1 1/2 wide chute for feeding the fruits and vegetables into the juicer so I had to cut up everything into small pieces. Whereas the Koolatron's chute is 3 inches wide so I was only cutting things up to fit into the chute. I decided to trying cutting up my fruit and vegetables into small pieces when feeding them through the Koolatron chute to see if I could increase the amount of juice produced. Here is the amount of juice I yielded after cutting my fruits and vegetables into small pieces: 6 medium carrots yielded 8ozes (2ozs more), 2 medium apples yielded 8 1/2ozs (2ozs more and 1/2oz more than the Omega J8005).
I was able to get more juice out of my fruits and vegetables from the Koolatron by cutting them into smaller pieces. The other mistake I was making was using the plunger to force the fruits and vegetables down.Read more ›
I have to say I was amazed that it lived up to everything I expected from it! It is very nice looking and incredibly easy to clean. Even the sifter bowl I read could be tricky to clean but one scrub of my dish wand and it is spotless. Everything else just rinses clean in hot water.
I have juiced every type of hard and leafy veggie and every fruit imaginable. I do chop my larger items into more managable sizes...but this is not a drawback for me. Very fast and easy to use.
My fiancé isn't thrilled with the cost involved with juicing, but it's worth the trade-off. With this juicer, you can make 1 small glass of apple juice with 2 large apples. That's really not unreasonable.
The pulp comes out very dry; I'm surely getting the most out of these fruits and vegetables as possible. I use the left over pulp for an extra healthy ingredient in carrot bread, banana muffins and I also give it to my dogs. They absolutely love it ! I have also used it for compost and I'll throw it outside for the wild rabbits, it's always gone by morning.
The *no-drip cap* did not come in the box. As I understand it, this is no longer part of the package. This is no problem whatsoever, because it seems like a bad idea to me. This cap would possibly trap bacteria which I don't need, so I'd never use it. For the price, this is a great juicer and I'm quite thrilled to be included among *the people who juice.* It's like our own special cult ! I'll add that I bought a book as well for extra information on juicing on turning disease and ailments around, and instrumental in healing the body. It's called *Juice Alive.* You can look inside this book on Amazon and decide if the table of contents gives you enough information that you'd like to order it. All in all, I'm very, very happy with this product and so happy to get it for such a good price. If you're on a budget but you'd like to start juicing, this is your best bet.

It came broken, and never worked, even though I followed the instructions. It has a loose part inside, and can't be taken completely apart. Super bummed, I didn't get to use it.Published on March 24, 2014 by Natascha Knowlton
