As a tuner should, this helps me tune my guitar by telling me what note I'm closest to, and if I'm sharp flat or perfect. It really helps me since I know what note the strings should be. I am careful not to go too high so I don't pop a string. I haven't popped a string in ages since the first time.
This really helps me to make sure I'm always in tune before having a jam session, and in between to make sure I'm still in tune. It fits in my guitar case, and the batteries last a while...That's probably why my other one stopped working though. They lasted so long they sprung a leak. I'd recommend checking your batteries every once in a while to make sure they aren't leaking, because that could damage your device.
Overall, it's really consistent and does what it needs to do. I have no issues with it.
I've owned maybe a dozen tuners. This is the worst. Hard to use, hard to read. Useless.
Second: I gave it to a musician friend and he agrees with me 100% on what I said above. He used it visually tuning his guitars, banjo and violins and then doing the same by plugging the instruments into the tuner itself and he can find no fault in its ability to tune instruments.
So my 3 star review is correct for me, but my musician friend said to give it a 5 star from him.
Tuning your own instrument in a noisy environment is always a problem, and I think some of the expensive tuners are smarter about picking your instrument out of the mass of people tuning up. The optional plug-in contact microphone may be necessary.
Battery life is good, as are physical ruggedness and ease of use. Doesn't take up much room in the gig bag. The dual-mode display gives good visibility in darkness or full sunlight. At the low price, every student or amateur wind or string player can afford to carry one everywhere.
There is no provision for "stretch" in piano tuning, and no alternate temperaments. Not loud enough to tune a large ensemble by itself.

Upon my first use which I immediately tried on my bass guitar to test its success it worked perfectly! Within about 30 seconds I had successfully tuned the bass guitar up accurately. I was amazed! Then I tried it on my guitar and it instantly had the exact same effect and my guitar was tuned perfectly within seconds!
I cannot recommend this tuner enough to be honest because it is fantastic. If you are a guitarist/bassist and want a decent tuner, and you're willing to fork out that £7.50 then you won't regret it. I have had numerous experiences with tuners and they've turned out to be quite irritating to use but this one is just right.
This is a superb little tuner that is much more versatile than a guitar tuner alone and is accurate enough to tune most instruments either acoustically with the built in microphone or by plugging in to the ¼ inch jack. You can easily calibrate the tuner to a specific frequency or match the pitch of any other instrument. There is also a built in tone generator which allows you to tune by ear. The tuner has a slot at the back to insert a piece of card to use as a makeshift stand to enable the screen to be seen more easily than when laid flat on a table.
Unfortunately the tuner does not have a backlight on the LCD screen but it does mean that the (2) AAA batteries will last for ages (100 hours). Available for less than a tenner it's a bargain.
Well it appears quite well constructed, seems as though it'll last for quite some time.
Tuning wise, it is very easy to get your Guitar/Bass tuned quickly, once you plug in your guitar (or you can use the inbuilt microphone if you so desire) and start plucking your strings it will display what key your string is closest to being tuned to, and a little indicator that shows how far off of the exact tone you are, it's then fairly easy to find out which way you have to twist your knobs to get the right tone.
I would say however that this tuner dosen't seem to be able to 'hear' you playing when you pluck too lightly, and then dislikes it also when the strings make that horrible twanging noise if you puck them too hard, so find a nice mid-point lik I did.
But I echo a previous writer who says it is (only) ok for standard tuning
I would add though that dropping the bass E to D is standard for classic guitarists (at least) and a very large amount of the repertoire exists here
So this is a serious deficiency that at least potential buyers should be aware of.
The price was reasonable too.
In practice, the unit works well with a sensitive built-in microphone plus the ability to remember your last setting (bass or guitar).
Another really useful feature is that it switches itself off after a number of minutes so the battery does not run down.
A couple of small problems are that its very light weight means that it has a tendency to move when tuning and there is no built-in prop to hold it a more user-friendly viewing angle although there is a slot in the back for the insertion of (I guess) a coin for this purpose.
All in all - a very worthwhile tuner.
The product comes packaged in a small sturdy box along with 2x AAA batteries and a manual (English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese). It's very simple to use and easy to switch between tuning guitar or bass. The build quality is adequate whilst appeasing to the eye and the battery compartment's cover clicks in satisfyingly to assure it won't come off. With the batteries in, it has a good weight to it and the LEDs to indicate either flat, natural or sharp are bright. Tuning using the Sound mode is a breeze as the audible reference pitches are loud. The power button is slightly lowered to prevent it from turning on accidentally in a guitar bag for example. Design and engineering in Japan, made in Vietnam.
The flaws would be that the 'tilt slit' as it's referred to on the back isn't very friendly and sticking a pick in there will only stick half of the time. When resting it down on a surface, the pick will easily pop out if you even apply gentle pressure sending your pick flying. It does state '...or similar object' in the manual so maybe it's matter of finding what works best. The auto power-off feature only triggers after 20 minutes without use (presumably also meaning not picking up any sound) which seems an unnecessarily long time to wait though others may appreciate this for one reason or another.
A great tuner by KORG.
Play the note on the guitar and the LEDs and screen show you if you have to tighten or loosen the string. When the note is spot on a green LED illuminates to show it is in tune. Simple. It has a built in microphone to listen to the note played or electric guitars can plug in the side.
Your guitar will never be out of tune again.
I bought this specific one, because it was by Korg.
They are a very famous brand in musical instruments and accessories, they make quality products.
I was so right with that assumption.
This little tuner, is brilliant, especially for how much it costs.
The built in mic, picks up the guitar really well.
I recommend this tuner to anyone.
