Compact, Accurate, and Easy-to-Use, Korg's Pitchclip is the Chromatic Clip-On Tuner Ideal for Guitar
Simple, Convenient Clip-On Style Tuner
The design goals for Pitchclip were simple, convenient features and total ease of use. Clip the tuner to your headstock, flick on the power, and you’re ready to tune. As you play a string, the built-in piezo sensor will quickly sense the instrument’s vibrations and indicate the pitch in the meter.
Display Reverse Mode Assures Easy Viewing
This function conveniently and quickly reverses the meter display, switching top and bottom. This prevents the player from having to view the display information upside down; regardless of whether the tuner is attached to the front or the rear of the headstock. When powering on, simply hold down the power switch for an extended time to reverse the display. Now, the musician is free to choose the position that's most comfortable and convenient; this feature also makes the Pitchclip a great choice for left-handed players as well.
Power Saving Reliability
A newly engineered type of rubber is used in the clip, allowing the reliable attachment to a variety of headstocks; ukulele, electric bass, classical guitar and so on. By relocating the battery compartment to the clip section, the meter display section has been made lighter and slimmer, lowering the overall center of gravity and creating a more secure mounting than ever before.
High-Visibility Chromatic Floor Tuner
High visibility, advanced functions and sleek styling make this new guitar/bass pedal tuner from Korg our most advanced yet. The Pitchblack is the same size as a compact effect unit, and features a tough aluminum die cast body that will endure hard use on the road or in the studio.

On all the guitars I've tried this on, this tuner has trouble with the 5th and particularly the 6th string. It is somehow not tuned for quite the right frequency ranges. On the low E and A string it jumps around a lot, making it tricky to be precise. It will also start picking up the wrong note and flash back and forth between notes. I typically start tuning on the 6th string and move towards the treble string, and what I see is that this tuner improves in performance as you move towards the Treble strings. I find it very important to mute the other 5 strings while tuning with this tuner. This issue is probably worst on my Telecaster, but has been present on all the guitars I've tried it on. This has generally been so annoying that I now only use these Korg tuners when I have to. I ended up getting a TC Polytune 3 pedal for my pedal board and it is 100x better than this thing, and I now have a Taylor acoustic with a built-in tuner and that tuner is also much easier to use than this thing. Neither of those jump around at all and generally don't require muting the other strings. I have also seen that if you are in a quiet room, and you're tuning an acoustic guitar, that some of the iPhone/Android apps like the Peterson strobe tuner app will outperform this device.
I also find battery life to be fairly poor for such a simple device with a CR2032 battery. I only turn this tuner on while I tune, and I end up having to replace the battery every 2-3 months if I use it every day. I've used other devices powered by a CR2032 battery such as wireless bicycle computers which will last for about a year, and those devices run the entire time you're cycling while seemingly having larger power draw, so they are lasting hundreds of hours versus this thing burning it's battery out in probably less than 5 hours of use if you have to replace the battery every 8 weeks or so with one tuning per day.
On the plus side the display on this is easy to see, it's a pretty simple device, and it takes up next to no room in your bag/case. So I am always still carrying one of these with each guitar if I go anywhere so I have a safe backup.
This KORG Pitchclip tuner feels lightweight, but at the expense of quality. It does not clip on as hard as the Snark, and although it has a lower profile, it's minimized by the fact that you have to flip it up every time you want to turn it on. The power button is underneath it. Plus, for a R handed uke/guitarist, the numbers and tuning letters are upside down. Sure, instructions say you can hold power button down for three seconds to flip the display, but guess what: you have to do it every single time you turn it on. Annoying as anything!
The SNark's only issue is that it's not low profile on the head. But, I have removed the clip and use it's gauge only, and now it's low profile and I can dangle it from my uke head on a string.
The Korg Pitchclip attachable tuner (and I love my guitar Korg Pitchblack pedal tuner, by the way Korg Pitchblack True Bypass Chromatic Tuner Pedal with 4 Display Modes ) just plain rots like stale cottage cheese left in your guitar case. Snark is both cheaper and better.
Addendum: It's been a month since my last review, and I'm getting used to this tuner slightly, so I did increase the review by a star. I'm used to holding the button down to get it to "face" me, and it is low profile on my ukulele head...that's the best part of it. But, it's still cheaply built, feels very flimsy, feels like it could crap out anytime, doesn't clip on nearly as tightly or securely as the SNARK tuner, and is harder to read. You have to flip it open every single time you turn it on, as the button is inside it. PITA! This tuner costs fifty percent more than the Snark, and for it, you get nothing.
I think, if having a functioning tuner that you plan to keep on your instrument full time is your sole goal, then this may be for you due to its low profile. But, you may need to modify it to get it to clip tight enough (e.g add more padding under it and on your uke head to give thickness for it to "grab"). If you are not going to want this on your instrument full time, but just some of the time or not at all, I'd absolutely buy the almost unanimously 5-star rated Snark II. Bye now.
Most importantly, it tunes your guitar. I had to deduct one star because it can be a little weird sometimes. I've noticed that occasionally it will jump back and forth from C to G, the two look similar and it can be a little confusing. Also, sometimes the display will flash random notes for a second until it figures out your pitch. The other minor issue is I haven't really been able to get the #/b "sweeper" (little gauge of red LEDs above the note display) to center on a note. So even when I'm tuning my E string for example, it shows flat (to the left) and when I tune up it will stay flat and then jump to sharp. It's pretty much impossible to get it centered on the green LED.
Overall, I'm happy with it and I will keep using it forever.

It can be underslung on the headstock because if you keep the on button pressed for two secs, the display is upside down. Makes it less obtrusive and easier to read whilst stood on stage.
It turns itself off if unattended for a short while and when folded flat for storage can't accidentally be turned on as the button is hidden.
It dropped a star however for being slightly sensitive. The difference between flickering sharp and flickering flat is breathing on the tuning peg. In that regard, its similar to other Korg tuners I have (including the excellent soundhole mounted one.) Not an issue really but don't expect a solid green light with no suggestion of wavering.
I’ve had this tuner for a few years and replace the battery about once a year only.
It is very reasonably priced and the clever design means it can sit inconspicuously on the end of your guitar's head, until you flip it out when you want to use it to tune.
The LED display is highly visible in just about any environment - and because this tuner works by picking up vibrations from your instrument, you don't need to plug-in your guitar to use it.
It also works just fine on my acoustic guitars.
I've had this tuner for a while now and still haven't had to change the batteries - so they seem to last a long time.
Strongly recommend this excellent product:well designed, functional, robust, great value - two thumbs up!
