The QZ99 Passive Noise-Reducing Over-Ear Headphones from KOSS are designed to make the world disappear. Pneumalite(TM) ear cushions and an extra-secure headband help with passive sound isolation, allowing for listening without outside noise. A volume control is located on the ear cup for maximum ease of use.
The Koss QZ99 headset is a passive noise-reduction stereophone system that isolates the listener from ambient sounds, allowing clear and focused listening of the intended aural signal. Ideal for use with racing scanners and metal detectors, it includes a volume control on the earcup for easy level adjustment, a stereo/mono switch for added flexibility, and a single entry, 8 foot coiled cord.See all Product description

It does a pretty good job at canceling out the sound of crying children or that annoying person staying with you indefinitely. I get the feeling if my head was an inch or two thicker I'd be having issues with the flimsy metal height adjustment bending or breaking . You have no idea how far they actually stick out until you've given them a good yank. The volume control is nice but the sound tends to cut out on the right speaker when the dial is turned down low. When nothing is playing and you shake your head, you can hear the metal fasteners rattle.
Don't expect to fall asleep with these on unless you're good at sleeping on your back. Any other position is either uncomfortable or might hurt the headphones. I can see the volume dial popping off when pressed into the armrest of a couch.
The audio cord is awkward too. There's about 10 inches from the jack to the coil portioned, then another 1 1/2 or 2 feet of straight cord after the coil. This makes the coiled portion bog the whole cord down due to it's weight. And the stereo/mono switch has a tendency to snag on things like a grappling hook.
Maybe if it was as advertised when I bought them I would of given 3 stars, but it wasn't and still isn't, so it gets a 2. I hope people read this and don't just go by what the picture looks like, like I did.
These have been pretty great. They do what they say they do, no doubt about that.
I use them with my computer, for music, movies/video and gaming.
They get plenty loud enough for me, and the sounds are clear.
My only real beef with these headphones, is that they are pretty snug fitting.
Good, in that it keeps them on your head while leaning over and whatnot, but bad in that it can be uncomfortable.
In my case, when I'm gaming and someone is in the room, I tend to only have the right headphone over my ear, and place the left one behind my left ear (so I can hear when people talk to me). This makes my right ear sore after a while (on the intertragic notch). I've tried different angles (the headphones pivot a little) and extending the length, but no use.
If I'm wearing both headphones on my ears (admittedly, as intended), then it doesn't bother me at all.
I only bring this up, because I've always worn headphones with one side behind the ear, and have never had this happen.
But then, all the headphones I've ever owned, have all been pretty loose fitting.
- Great sound. Both volume and sound quality.
- Noise reduction is GREAT on these.
- Very snug fit. (see cons also)
- Seems to be very solidly constructed.
- A little too snug. Wearing them the way I do, causes irritation.
- The cord could be a little longer. It's a good length, but a little longer would have been nice.
It's irresponsible for companies to shorten product lifespan for environment sake. I may be dead before i buy another set of headphones, but i will surely by your product for friends and family and recommed so too. Thank you for customers who will maintain their integrity in this throw away world , we are still here

The ear padding just failed and they just started gushing oil or some other slimy substance all over me, my clothes, my desk.Read more
