Editorial Reviews

Review

"This book has a depth to it that took me pleasantly by surprise. The conflict doesn't come down to a simple good vs. evil showdown - it was nuanced and compelling and kept me guessing right up to the end. And our main character, Gabrielle, is the kind of kid I'd want to be friends with: brave and witty and flawed and completely lovable.
And the writing. Hats off to Mr. Black because his prose is stunningly, luxuriously written. This is the kind of book that makes me want to gather up some children and plunk them firmly down for an impromptu read-aloud because it's just that good."

About the Author

Eldritch Black is an author of dark fantasy and supernatural tales of gothic dread and fantastical horror. Eldritch Black's first novel "The Book of Kindly Deaths" is a Young Adult Fantasy & Supernatural tale of stories within stories, horrifying monsters, and a terrifying midnight world. Eldritch also writes short scary stories, including "The Ghosts of the Tattered Crow", and "The Curious Incident at Gloamingspark Yard". The first a tale of murder & ghosts in Victorian London, the second of a strange dimension seeking device, demons and a dash of Steampunk Horror. He's also published "Three Curses for Trixie Moon" a story of witches & sinister omens, magic & dread, and "The Festival of Bad Tidings" a twisted tale of unrequited love, cakes and witchcraft. And then there's One Dark Hallow's Eve - a lost spooky Halloween story from The Book of Kindly Deaths. Eldritch was born in London, England and now lives in the woods on a small island near Seattle. When he isn't writing, he enjoys smuggling and trading in forgotten secrets and lost dreams.
