Called Kraus back this morning and the second guy said we don't have that part, it has to be glued in at the factory. You will have to return the whole faucet to the vendor and get a new one. NOW I'M ANNOYED. I have to uninstall, box, ship, and reinstall a new faucet from scratch. I have better things to do! I think the faucet seems very nice and would want to try again, but is there any way to get Amazon to check the product before shipping to make sure it doesn't have the same part missing? Grrrrr.
UPDATE October 19, 2016: As you can see if you look at the comments, Michael Rodriguez from Kraus contacted me very soon after my disgruntled review. He said he wanted to correct the customer service issue immediately. He shipped a replacement faucet from the factory which arrived overnight. I took out the old faucet and put in the new one (this went pretty fast, since I had just installed the first one a few days before). My impressions after a few days: It's built like a tank and finished very nicely--the brushed stainless steel looks great. Everyone who has been in my kitchen has commented on its good looks. The flow rate and pattern for both stream and spray are perfect for me. I took the weight off the spray hose since it seemed too heavy and the hose pulls out and retracts easily without it. It seems to drip briefly after turning it off in spray mode, but maybe there's an adjustment I can make to make that stop. It dripped after turning it off in stream mode at first but seems to have stopped. I still think it's crazy to need a whole new faucet for a plastic sleeve that fits into the end of the arm, but oh well, disposable society we live in.
So my new review would say Kraus IS interested and committed to providing excellent customer service to match their excellent product. I'll post one more time after I've used it for a few weeks or months.
EDIT March 10, 2017 Well I promised I would update my review. Unfortunately a new, unrelated problem has occurred and I have not had much response from Kraus. The second faucet I installed worked beautifully from late October 2016 to early March 2017 (about 6 months) and then suddenly the amount of water, and water pressure from the faucet, dropped precipitously. A very small trickle of water comes out. There is barely enough pressure to make the spray (as opposed to the stream) function. It takes many, many minutes to fill a pot with water to boil pasta. Obviously something has broken. I followed all the troubleshooting instructions; still no flow. I email Kraus and got this response:
Thank you for contacting the Kraus Customer Support Team.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience you may be experiencing with your Kraus product. We wish to inform you that the part you requested for your Kraus fixture is currently out of stock.
We do not have an ETA as of yet, however, the part has been ordered and should ship shortly after we receive the stock in our facility.
A tracking number will be emailed to you as soon as it becomes available.
We sincerely apologize for the delay.
I don't know what part they plan to ship to me (I didn't request a "part"). Whatever it is, I don't have it, or an estimate of when I will get it. As of today, April 3, 2017 I have heard nothing else from them, no updates. I'm getting tired of having only a trickle of water coming out of my faucet. So I'm downgrading this faucet again. Will post when I hear anything from the company.
All I can say is that from the time I laid my eyes and hands on this beauty I could tell it was the one! It came packaged in a compartmented box with the SS elements sheathed in fabric bags. The rest of the components were neatly arranged under it.
Installation is a bit tricky: I prepared for this by purchasing a Basin Wrench (that I ended up not using because there was not enough space to get it to the bolt). On the bottom of the unit the bolt that tightens to the bottom of the sink is in such a tight place (between two other- water supply stems) it took several attempts to get it snug against the sink on the top. It also has a spring that fits over the tubing that allows the pullout to extend and retract. Caution: the spring is installed on a white piece of plastic in the box. Be sure to cut or break the plastic on either end so that it doesn't end up loose in your hand (picture a slinky) because that spring has to go over the pull-out tubing. We learned the hard way and it's sort of a pain to have to pull the slinky together.
Once that part was done, the rest was cake. The spray on this in both modes is very strong. It has a memory(?) function that keeps it in the mode you used it last. It is very heavy and durable sounding when the pull-out goes back into the faucet housing. The size of this and the reach of the faucet in the base is excellent. I have had to use the pull-out function less than the last one.
All in all, I am so happy to have it. It is a work of art- very simple yet elegant. Highly recommend.
One last thing- another review mentioned the installation guide is pretty cryptic- they were correct- so I recommend you have it installed by a plumber or by someone who is fairly good at putting things together.
Another last thing....we used the spacer they included and also an additional washer to ensure a tight fit to the sink.
