This novella is not for readers unfamiliar with the Kris Longknife series. If you haven't read the series go pick up Kris Longknife: Mutineer now!
Being a Kris Longknife fan who got hooked on the series when it started, I enjoyed this novella. It did a great job of filling in a corner of the Longknife universe, providing perspective of what was going on elsewhere while Kris was galavanting about. I enjoyed getting the different perspectives as the novels are focused on Kris and how she perceives what is going on. This novella also worked to jog my memory of what had happened in the last book and provided insight into the ending of the previous Longknife book. I'm now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next Longknife book.
If you are a fan of the Kris Longknife series and need your fix before Furious is out, or just want to get some additional insight into what kicked off the situation Kris will find herself in in Furious, then skip a coffee and get this story.
The author continues to milk the series; but has gutted the parts that made it a success to begin with. No action, no conclusion and just frustration with stupid characters.
Skip it would be my advice and hope the author returns to what made the series great to begin with.
That's why I am not giving this e-book my usual five (5) rating.
This was not what I have come to expect from Mike.
Actually, the eBook seemed like it a bunch of old chapters left over from the series or edited out.. Then, put together to make an ebook.. (the way they made pink panther movies after Sellers died, from out-takes of old movies.)
But it is still worth a four!
Please don't judge the series on this one eBook,
No more than you should judge the author only on my review!
The rest of the Longknife books are Great.
Some of the "reviews" authors are either unaware of what a novella is (clue - it isn't a full length book) or they are the same people who order off the McDonalds Dollar menu then complain that the hamburger they get isn't as big and doesn't contain all the stuffings a Whopper does.
Welcome Home/Go Away gives the reader a bit of the picture of what was going on back home while the reader was along for the ride in Daring.

An excellent continuation of the series that addresses some of the holes in the overall narrative. Super book.Published 11 months ago by Philip C. Gutzman

This is a great middle bit....
Why the story is written helps make a better series. This bridges a big gap.

These are a little predictable and very cliche`ish but readable. I search for series novels that aren't too juvenile. A lot of SciFi is. Read morePublished on February 28, 2014 by J. Gaines
Great story line but' my hunt and peck entry. Makes it hard to give it the credit it deserves. I am about 2 years behind of the series.Published on January 24, 2014 by Theresa C. Buffaloe
