The Krown Story
Krown burst on to the skate scene back in 1996 with the idea to provide a high quality skateboard to the rider on a budget. Krown recognized a big gap between the bargain big box retail skateboard and the premium professional grade skateboards that can break your bank. The boards at big box retail stores have plastic wheels and don’t even roll! Krown’s idea to bring a price-point skateboard to the market that actually functions as a skateboard has proven to be successful after more than 20 years. With more than 20 years of industry knowledge and knowhow, Krown is able to source the best parts at the best prices, which allows Krown to pass the savings on to the consumer. This expertise has allowed Krown to venture into the world of skateboards, longboards, helmets, pads, and even tools. Krown is the best place to start for beginner and intermediate riders!
Lots of Cool Graphics and Colors
Choose from a variety of colors on the same quality constructed longboard. Having trouble settling on the perfect color for your skateboard purchase? So were we! That’s why we have so many awesome color combinations to choose from! Whether it’s for you or a certain special someone, we’ve got the color variety to suit everyone’s needs! Constantly adding new graphics to our boards, our variety is only getting bigger!
Catch some gnarly concrete waves with a Krown Pintail! The Pintail is a classic shape that’s reminiscent of the boards from early longboarders who were looking to catch a wave even when they weren’t near the water. The shape and wheel wells of the Krown Pintail are designed to reduce the chance of wheel bite while riding, having one less thing to worry about while carving out the next hill that comes your way. Coupled with the board’s length it makes the Pintail ideal for carving, cruising and dancing.
Built Up & Ready to Ride
This board includes professional assembly. All Krown longboards arrived assembled and ready to ride straight out the box. The drop thru includes heavy duty Aluminum 6.0” trucks, 65mm 78A high-rebound urethane wheels, precision speed Abec 7 bearings, high tensile phillips head mounting hardware, and 80 grit black grip tape. Each component meets the industry standards and are a common choice of skaters worldwide.

I had three boards sent to them (one for me to play on, too!):
Krown Wood Sunset Complete Pintail (because I just love this style)
Quest Super Cruiser Kick Tail
Xtreme Drop Down
At home I ride a nice Gold Coast pin tail that I picked up at a local shop so that's what I have to compare these three with and to start I can say, I paid twice as much for the Gold Coast than for any of the three listed above, and you can tell the Gold Coast is a better quality board, however, that said, for the price I was really happy with all three boards. From a beginner's perspective these are all great boards to start with. The bearings and wheels were good - no, the bearings aren't as smooth as what's on my Gold Coast, but for half the price I'm happy.
To get to some of he specifics...
The Krown Wood arrived warped which is why I only gave it three stars. In it's defense, when I road it, I really didn't notice any problems, but the board is a pretty significant part of the complete set and I feel, even at $70 the board should be right.
The Xtreme Drop Down ended up being my favorite to ride, but that was mostly because I liked the drop down set up. The paper on the board did seem to scrape off pretty easily, but I won't ding them for that - cheeper quality goods kept the price down so I could get the boys into new toys.
The Quest Kick Tail was just all around solid - not warped, paper seemed to stay on it, but it probably saw the least use of the three while I was there.
In summary, as a beginner I can say all three are great beginner boards. A little disappointed with the Krown Wood's warped board as it doesn't really give them that board to build on if they want to upgrade a little at a time, but for the price I'd highly recommend any to get started.
