I have a print I purchased about 30 years ago that was in a cardboard jacket. I put it under the bed and basically forgot about it, thinking I'd get it framed "one of these days" every time I would find it stored under the bed (it was low on my list of things to do). I finally decided to have it framed and matted with archival mat board and UV glass. Acid from the cardboard jacket had caused considerable brown foxing on the print. Checking with a local art supply shop, they recommended this Krylon acid neutralizer. Using it totally erased about 99% of the foxing and the remaining area can barely be seen. I used two applications on the print, saturating the paper from the backside in the dark foxing areas. It dries quickly. A second application can cause a white powder coating to appear, but it wipes away with a Kleenex once the spray dries. Five years later, there is no sign of the foxing on the print. The spray has a temporary chemical and ammonia smell, but dissipates rapidly.

This is a great product for scrapbookers like myself who enjoy preserving trip mementos other than photos. For example, if you visit a city and pick up a street map, or if you save a brochure from the hotel you stayed at, you can use this spray to make them acid free. Then you can add them to your scrapbook pages without concern that they will make your entire page eventually turn yellow. I've been using for several years and have yet to see any yellowing on anything I've used it on.

Tips for Use: The spray is easy to use, just like spray paint. Just make sure you find a ventilated area to use it, or take it outside to let the fumes dissipate. I suggest saving a giant piece of cardboard to use again and again under your documents. This will protect whatever floor or table surface you're spraying on, since this spray does leave a bit of a white residue.

I bought this product to preserve newspapers that have historical significance. If you have ever watched a newspaper clipping turn yellow over time, it is due to the acidic quality of the paper. This product is essential if you wish to preserve these important works from yellowing or aging. I found that the 6oz size is more economical than the 3oz, and will usually cover up to 20 full-size newspaper pages. I would suggest using a pH testing pen first on your document to determine whether it needs treatment with this product, as some paper has a neutral pH.

FYI, use this outside to spray your pages or use it in a box. Lay your paper in a box and then spray so the box contains the aerosol. This spray makes your pages acid free. Most paper, including newspaper clippings are very acidic and won't late over the long haul. This spray helps adjust the PH so you can preserve your memories for much longer. I'd recommend using this on any kind of paper that isn't acid free. It will make them last much longer. Just lightly mist both sides and let it air dry. Then you can put it in your scrapbook or whatever.

Product arrived promptly. Very good way to de-acidify paper at a better price than other products. Shipped promptly. Not sure why these de-acidifying sprays are so expensive. I've used Wei-To de-acidifying spray but it was two to three times as expensive as this, but this seems to work well. Hard to tell if it's as good because you'd have to wait a decade or two to see if the paper yellowed, so I'm not sure about the quality over the long haul, but we'll see. It sprays on and dries quickly in my experience. I have not had any problems with wet pages. I generally prefer to spray the back of the page just in case it affects what I'm saving on the front of the page.

I have used this product for years and have seen no degradation on the documents I used it on. The white chaulky powder is very light and brushes off with no trace. Buy a few cans as the cans are small. Recently I was able to coat two 24x30 docs, two 16x20 documents, six 8x10 with 2 cans. Pros: Seems to work. Cons: Cost. Minimal white powder.

We do custom picture framing. We frame a lot of newspaper articles for people. Newspaper turns yellow & starts to fade fairly quickly. We use this spray in addition to UV blocking glass to prevent or at least dramatically slowdown the deterioration process.

Used this on some paper emphemera to protect from internal acid. Sprays easily, leaves no white residue like Wei to did on some of my items. Also seemed to soften the real crispy trade cards. Only downsides is it doesn't go very far and the initial odor can be sickening. Use with good ventilation as is recommended. I would recommend the product.
