I usually carry my lock in a Fabric Horse U-lock holster on my belt. Most Kryptonite locks have a frame bracket mounted on the shackle where the vinyl is cut out, which tends to snag on the belt holster, even if the bracket is removed. Not a problem with the Messenger Mini as the vinyl covering runs all the way around the shackle. It doesn't come with any frame mounting option, however, so if you want that you'd be better off with a different model. The Messenger Mini also lacks the anti-rattle O-rings that come on the Mini-5, but it doesn't seem to need them due to a tighter fit at the crossbar/shackle interface.
The keyhole design seems to have changed subtly, and has been giving me some trouble. An external metal plate floats separately from the internal slot, so they don't always line up correctly, and sometimes I have to spend a few seconds fiddling to get the key in. Check the included picture to see what I'm talking about. Maybe it'll get easier over time? I'll update in six months.
Update 01/11/2016: Lock is still working great. The keyhole is still fiddly sometimes, when I have big winter gloves limiting my dexterity, but it's a pretty minor issue once you get used to it.
One star off because despite its expensive price, no mounting devices are included in the kit.
All the other kryptonites have some mount, even cheap models... but they expect you to put this 7" lock in your pocket...
