Stolen in Chinatown early on in the evening, met up with a friend an came back to find it gone. Kryptonite's policy is tough. I understand legalities ect.. but it's a different story when you're unable to stand by your product simply because it's 3 days beyond warranty registration deadlines which aren't even clear or broadcasted.
If you want a lock that really does the job I'd take a hint from the delivery NYC delivery guys. 100 lb chains and quick reflexes.. not kryptonite.

There is no excuse for the junk design on this. The keyhole cover should be riveted to the metal and then sealed over with the yellow covering.
But no, they cheaped out so badly it's disgusting: two exposed screws on the outside go through the yellow covering. Instead of just the keyhole allowing water into the mechanism, they drilled two additional holes that expose the internal mechanism to water. The problem is even worse. The screws do not screw in to the metal of the cylinder: they screw into another cheap piece of plastic within the cylinder.
This is a more than $100 lock, and they gerry rig this plastic all around the keyhole worse than a child's toy. This is guaranteed to let water in and rust out the mechanism. Planned obsolescence.
Thought it was pricey but now it's cost me about $8 for each year I've had it and shows no sign of slowing down.
Strong...Heavy As Hell, Piece Of Steel.
When the lock is secured to the bike...you will NOT feel the weight.
I secured the lock to my bike using Velcro One-Wrap...For Cables, Wires and Cords.
The Velcro One-Wrap, works amazingly great...3 straps in a pack for $5...Home Improvement Store.
Highly Recommended...with...Velcro One-Wrap

It weighs 4-5 lbs, so be prepared for that. Buy a bike mount - there are several. We chose the one that mounts to the handlebar, there are others that mount to the frame In our case, the lock would not physically fit in the triangle of the frame without removing the water bottle holder and other mods. The handlebar mount works fine, but be sure to put it near the center so it doesn't throw the bike off balance.
NOBODY will try to cut this lock. Given a few hours with a hacksaw or perhaps a plasma torch, they could cut through. But it's a bike, not a Tiffany diamond, so once they see this thing, they will walk away and find another, far easier, target of opportunity. Lastly, buy a cable lock or two so you can protect the tires.

PROS
1/this is the thickest steel D lock and arguably the strongest
2/ being small, its hard to use a wedging device in between this and the bike to break it -
3/ you feel quality in your hand and its strong
4/ you can buy bike insurance for 5 years with this lock - however you have to register it - once bike stolen report to police - and show evidence of broken lock before you can paid insurance money (i have never experienced this but just am aware of this procedure)
5/ i am told by someone that the chunk appearance of it is a deterrant to stealing as it takes a lot longer to break into (i am told by someone who doesnt steal bikes so information perhaps not reliable)
CONS
1/ very heavy and isnt easy to carry - this remains the biggest deterrant to purchase for some
my SOLUTIONS TO THE WEIGHT ISSUE
1/ leave the lock at your work place etc if you use bike for commuting or have two locks for two destinations
2/ if you need to carry the lock for 'journeys to different destinations- i bought this product called lockrockit - i picked 3 of them for my 3 bikes for 30 dollars a piece - goes to back of saddle and job done - a perfect carry device for this D lock
Overall a 5 star product and i do trust this lock
(my humble view who has had 2 of their bikes stolen - locks broken into)
