I like these shears. They are strong and do the job -- especially at their price. I can only give them three starts, though, because 1. they are short and can only cut things about an inch wide. That is good for most cooking -- chicken ligaments, etc. -- but I need them longer; 2 the handles touch when you cut and you can easily pinch your hand's skin in them -- I have done it several times when I grabbed it hard to get a good grip -- and it hurts; and 3. the case that they go in is a minor pain as they don't slide easily in -- you have to carefully "thread" them in. Not a big deal but I like the handle latch that most other shears have -- simple and quick, as opposed to these.

Overall, a good pair of shears, just not a great one.

Revised 12-3-13: I have pinched myself on the handles several times now and it really hurts (and I swear I am not a klutz). I found my old pair and now see how a good pair should be designed. I am going to give these away and buy a new pair somewhere else. Oh well . . .

Final revision: 4-30-14: I bought the Wusthof 5558-1 and there is no comparison between the two products. You can just feel the quality by holding and snapping the Wustof. Then actually use it and you can see there is no comparison -- it is a higher quality, better performing shear. And you can't pinch yourself on this set.

These shears cut through everything in the kitchen and many other things around the house, especially that difficult-to-open plastic packaging like that surrounding batteries. Highly recommended! I would recommend model #2710, though, above these, the #2706, as they're a bit larger and more versatile.

My favorite thing about these shears is the spring action that makes cutting easier for me. The blades are very sharp and fit closely for a clean cut without too much effort. In addition to kitchen tasks, they do extremely well on paper and ribbon, even many thicknesses, and were heavily used during package wrapping season. I use them often in the kitchen and in the utility room, however when making holiday wreaths (cutting wire and small but tough branches) I prefer the Wusthoff come-apart shears (Wüsthof Come-Apart Kitchen Shears) because it's easier to wash the sap off and if the blades get nicked, it's easier to sharpen them, plus they have the 'bone notch' that works well with branches. I got a nick in one of the blades of these shears and although they continue to cut fine, I don't feel the nick going away through the self-sharpening action. Maybe it just takes more time. Still, I can't complain about the sharpness of the blades.

I also like that the blade tips are narrow enough to get under a sealed box flap for opening shipped packages and they cut cardboard easily. They do well opening other packages too. Although I love the Wusthoff shears, the bone notch limits their ability to cut paper and cut open plastic packages as effectively as these shears do so I have both available.

There is a bottle opener at the bottom of the blade, but I've never used it, in part because I don't keep the shears in the case, but rather hang them by the hole in the handle. As a result holding them closed during the bottle opening exercise is a little awkward.

I bought thes shears to replace an aging pair of Pampered Chef shears. They are much better than the Pampered Chef even when new. A very high quality product.

I have always wanted kitchen shears and decided that I would finally break down and buy some. To be honest I don't have a lot to compare to except regular household scissors, but these have been great. They will cut through just about anything I have tried so far - packaging, vegetables, meats, etc... They are very easy to clean up. They are very sharp and cut precise cuts even though the blades are a little bulkier than my other household scissors. I like the fact that they come with a cover so that they are don't get dirty when in the drawer. The only negative I see is that some other brands of similar kitchen shears come with a wall mount so that you can easily grab them when needed and these do not. That would be my one and only complaint. These will fit just about any size hand. I have very small hands and my husband has large hands and both of us feel that they are very comfortable to hold. These are definitely a great purchase!

These are quality scissors, especially for the price. They are spring-loaded, which makes using them much easier on my hands. Because they essentially open on their own, your hands are only doing about half the work compared with regular (no spring) scissors.

I use a pair in the kitchen and another in my home office. I personally would not recommend using them to cut meat, primarily because of the difficulty in cleaning them, but also because I think a good knife works better. However, they are great for cutting herbs and smaller vegetables, both fresh and dried. They also make opening store-sealed foods, e.g. cheese, much easier on the hands (and brain) than trying to use that little "open here" notch.

They also work well as my office scissors and, again, because they're spring-loaded, they spare my hands a lot of the effort. I would not, however, use them for more heavy-duty cutting. I don't think they're designed for that and guess that they would dull and possibly break if used for that level of cutting.
