Top Customer Reviews
One important part of a sharpener is how the pencil moves inside the hole. With the KUM sharpener, it rotates perfectly and draws the pencil in. The cut is applied equally across the lateral surface of the pencil at the right angle. Especially helpful is the large hole for charcoal pencils and big colored pencils. Since the shape is rectangular, it's easy to hold it right over the garbage bag so all the shavings go in. With cylindrical sharpeners -- which I originally thought would be better -- the exit slot for shavings gets rotated into the wrong position sometimes.
The blade has held up very well. The wood is high-quality. The shave is consistent (I can get continuous shavings that are almost a foot long!). The search is finally over -- this is the winning pencil sharpener!
The only reason I buy a lot of these is that I live in the wettest place on earth and everything here mildews no matter how hard you protect it. That being said, I have one of these sharpeners that has lasted me two years, stored in a bag and a box and only used to sharpen here and there.
