I have a car dvr that is attached to my rear view mirror and the tf card goes into the top of the device and I would always have to pull my rear view mirror down to place the card in and out. This device here allows me to remove and replace the card as needed without having to reposition the rearview mirror. Actually I was kind of surprised it would work for this since it was primarily designed for usage with 3d printers. I have a 3d printer and it works for that as well. The price is very affordable and this item is a great way to overcome dealing with small tf cards by using it with an sd card...or better yet you can use an sd card. Worth the purchase.

I've had to purchase these a few times because while they do work phenomenal, one problem is if you 3D print a bracket to use this with an Ender 3 like I do, depending on how you choose to mount it, I believe the vibrations of the printer steadily wear out the connections between the interfaces and it behaves inconsistently. Sometimes it doesn't read the card at all, and rarely, it flat out stops mid-print. All in all, a worthwhile adapter if you want to avoid the fuss of dealing with the microSD standard, but if you don't want something that just dangles, you might want another option

Sometimes bad Amazon reviews aren't accurate if the most helpful and critical reviews are years old; not in this case. I took a chance and ordered this extension to see if I would get a working model with my Ender 3 Pro and it worked okay the first time I inserted it into the upgraded 4.2.7 board. But true to the reviews, it does NOT lock into the slot, and it does not make firm contact with the board contacts and could not see my SD/Micro SD cards. Even if I held it in place with my hand or jiggled it a bit, there's no way that I'm going to trust this device to stay connected to my printer during a 6+ hour build! If the cable even nudges a millimeter then it drops the connection. Too bad there aren't many other options out there, but at this point, it's probably worth just using Micro SD cards in the machine and if the board ever breaks, then I can just replace the motherboard for about $30, and at least I know that the part works. I do NOT recommend ordering this extension, steer clear of this product!

This adapter is great for allowing a 'Boomer' like me to use a full sized SD card, rather than the inconveniently located micro-SD card.

The adapter locked into my Ender 3v2 micro-SD slot perfectly and the full sized SD slot is spring loaded and locking. I am using Jyers firmware, so the Ender re-mounts the SD card any time you enter the 'Print' menu; no worries about swapping the card in and out while powered on.

I have the adapter mounted on my Ender with an external mount, as shown in my picture. The mount STL can be found as thing:4609997

It works great and I'm glad that I performed this modification! Highly recommended!

Micro SD cards are poor choices for frequent changing, the contacts are just not meant for that kind of use. Its likely your first major point of failure on your 3D printer. By using this adapter I have eliminated socket fatigue and allowed more manageable size cards to be used that many computers can work with directly. The nice SHORT cord works perfectly.
Beautiful Click-In / eject latch makes for simple changing.
This is a high-quality SD card reader that will probably add years of serviceability to my 3D printer.
