Attached is a sample image of the bad batch of sticker paper vs. another brand of glossy adhesive.
Also I noticed that it scratches off pretty easily or it leaves visible scratch marks on the surface but thats kinda what you get for purchasing something with a glossy surface.
All in all if you have an HP printer I do not recommend this sticker paper at all. Even decreasing the quality from "glossy photo paper" setting to the "default setting" ruins the quality quite a bit. Also the printer I used was the officejet 7612.
HOWEVER! if this is your last option because I know finding affordable glossy sticker paper gets pretty pricey there are ways to get around with this paper if you are using an HP printer. My advice to you is to set it to "default setting" rather then "glossy photo paper". This reduces the bubbly effect almost to none. To prevent the smudging I recommend laminating it after you print it. For me this defeats the purpose of the paper since you can laminate regular paper quality sticker paper so instead I spray them with a clear coat of Krylon Workable Fixatif after I let the print dry a bit. This basically puts a clear coat that protects the paper and prevents smudging in general. The original use for this spray was for pencil sketches so I thought It might as well work for other surfaces.
A picture says a thousand words, so check out my images and they'll tell you everything you need to know about the quality.
The ink was like oil and water on the paper, separating in the darker hues, giving it a crackled/marbled texture that was noticeable from a foot and a half away. The texture is not consistent enough throughout the image to even use as a 'cute gimmick,' as the marbling only happened in darker colors. Granted, the hues had remnants of K in the CMYK scale, so its possible that the black ink is the culprit.
The ink dried almost instantly on the paper (within a minute at least), however, on all versions but two of the print settings, the ink scratched right off the paper.
This leaves me to deduce that the problem is more to do with the printer than with the paper. It's a fault on both products' part, to be honest, as whatever coating the paper has is resisting the HP ink. I'm using an HP Officejetpro 8620, and have had this marbling problem on one other brand of photopaper. However, I did not have this problem using Canson photo paper. Therefore, there are some types of glossy papers that are incompatible with HP printers. I would NOT recommend this product for the HP Officejet Pro series, and similar inks.
The product itself, however, would have been fantastic if only it could've printed. The product has a quality feel to the surface, the paper is a nice thickness to not feel cheap or flimsy, and the adhesive is pretty good. I would use it for wine bottle labels, gift ideas, and self promotional items if I could. Please read the other reviews if you're not an HP printer user, however.
Looking into other brands of glossy sticker paper so if you are reading this review and have a suggestion please let me know :)
UPDATE: I have been testing other brands of sticker papers and in doing that I decided to do a one week exposure test for three different brands including this one. For reference I live in Seattle so I do live in a fairly humid area. The papers are exposed to sunlight, regular home lighting, professional studio lighting(about two hours everyday as I film things for YouTube), and complete darkness. I have one sheet of paper that is sealed in a ziplock bag and one that is exposed to the air in each of these lighting situations. I am finding that in ALL of the light tests that this brand of paper is turning yellow after about four days, this includes both the papers that are sealed in the baggies and the ones that are exposed to the light. The only papers from this particular brand that have stayed white are the ones in complete darkness.
