This is a fantastic book for expanding your child's creativity with Lego's. The schematics in these books are not the same as you may find in the the lego boxes. The usual pages that call out for 3 of this and 4 of that are not there and steps sometimes take larger leaps. Don't worry though, the illustrations of the assemblies are very easy to read and this book is well worth the money.
The reading isn't so much required which allows the younger readers to really get into flipping through the pages. The LEGO official books tend to be a bit more wordy with less step by step pictorals. I would highly recommend this book over any of those. It doubles as a great living room table book with tons of interesting pictures to look at.
NOTE: If you've got a bin full of unsorted lego though you may want to do a little organizing before you give your child this book, otherwise going to be a lot of plastic on plastic noise.
Fair bit of warning tho: Like every other "Lego Instructions" book, you will need a fair amount of lego parts in your stash to recreate most of the models within this book. Keep that in mind if you are purchasing this book for the intent of recreating the creations within.
