The house looks great, I really like the little details inside (like the letters to Santa). The toy making machine and conveyor belt is cute. The reindeer are a bit cheesy, but I'll overlook it since the rest of the set look great.
We enjoy Legos in this household. Christmas + Legos = Always a good time
**When you open the box! There may be little black sticks that are not in plastic wrap! Those are the reins for the sleigh! Do NOT mistake it for trash!!** there are also two gold keys that you twist off! Don't throw it away!
If you see a long orange Lego that is a tool to help connect or release Legos easier during assembly (I didn't use it because I noticed it at the very end when I went back over the instruction books and saw on the left side of the "pre- instructions" in the very first book.)
The detail is incredible! They literally thought of everything down to a working key in the doors. I used the extra red "ball" that tops the North Pole sign... To use as Rudolph's red nose!!!
There are some stickers you have to adhere to a few flat Legos for signs and such. The set comes with 2 instruction booklets! Phases 1,2,&3. Lego did awesome with labeling the plastic bags containing the Legos 1,2,&3. Separate. Do phase 1 first and so on.
Pour all PHASE 1 into one big pile. (There are even tinier phase 1 bags... inside of each Big labeled phase 1 bag). MIX IT ALL TOGETHER. Or you'll be pulling from each phase 1 pile anyway.
Do the same for phase 2,&3.
When u get to the reindeer!! Think. Are you wanting to attach them to the reins on the sled?! If you do, the backs of the reindeer can change. (They can have full fur for free standing OR they can have red and gold harnesses that attach to the reins. Look a page ahead on instructions to decide; otherwise, you'll have to redo your reindeer! And it can be hard to get tiny pieces back off once you've snapped them down.)
When attaching the lanterns to the side of Santa's house, attach the grey hinge first and then connect the lantern lights.
When assembling the Christmas string of lights that flow across the snowy rooftop, snap the lights onto the string BEFORE you snap them onto the roof. It'll be much easier. Also the actual snowy rooftops are both on hinges so connect hinges first to the base and then snap the roofs on after. It's much easier that way! (Don't be afraid to apply pressure to snap to hinges! You won't break it!)
Both sides of the house connect by use of one tiny hinge! Quick snap and it's connected.
There were a few pieces that should've been a different color. Such as: the flat smooth surfaced round pieces. There were supposed to be dark grey and silver! They accidently included too many dark grey pieces and not enough silver, in my set. There was also one beige piece that had a hinge on it when it shouldn't have (this fortunately did not affect the assembly but could've!). The solid brown door has a little window insert (not the gold one... The other door.) it was so tightly fitted that I couldn't snap it in no matter which way I tried, so I had my sharp TacForce knife and took off a smidge that was holding it up and it fit perfectly without damaging the look of the door! Be very careful doing this because you could cut too much and your wooden window will forever be fallen out (unless you glue. Messy). Take your time.
And last but not least, one of my elves had a "sad face" (with an actual blue teardrop ha). I was going to swap Santas face with the sad elf face because Santas face is mostly covered up by a beard BUT Santa has white eyebrows. My elf cannot have white eyebrows lol. So I'm going to get a random happy face out of his other Lego sets to use as this elf's face.
Out of 900 pieces, only a couple things were wrong & it didn't affect the assembly or cosmetics of Santa's village! I had plenty of pieces to use. You also will have many pieces left over. (Mrs. Claus has a THIN FABRIC red cape located in a small taped white cardboard box. Don't lose it or throw white box away til you get that out.)
ENJOY!! I had fun building it and my nephew will be so excited to wake up and start playing! I highly recommend this for any child (even though it's for 12+years old; my 6 year old nephew can totally play with it... He just can't build it without major help.)
Pictures included below: Full box scene view, 360 view of front, back, and both sides. The elf sad face mishap. And the extra pieces left over from my set (Orange Lego tool, golden key T-shaped rod that the golden keys twisted off of). And the 4 two piece Lego stacks (light brown and beige)... That you can interchangeably use on the backs of the reindeer if you don't want them attached to the reins of Santa's sleigh. God bless!
This particular set has so many neat little features that I am personally looking forward to helping build!
Son says: what an awesome set. It takes about an hour and a half to build. You get to build:
A two-story, three-room house/Santa's workshop (the doors open)
4 adult reindeer
A decorated Christmas tree
A conveyor belt
Surprise pieces: a guitar and a magic wand, Santa's sack, north pole sign, baby reindeer
Includes six minifigs: 4 elves, Santa, and Mrs. Claus
It was very fun to build. I'm going to keep it out for a long time. I'm going to put this with the Christmas lionel train.
