This toy is exactly as pictured in the second image. The set includes 23 blocks and three "lids/sorters." The blocks can be used to create a giraffe, elephant, parrot, and tree. The blocks (all but the tree), combined with the lids, can also be used as shape sorters. You simply place one of the three lids on top of the bucket and then your child can drop the designated blocks in through their coordinating shape. The blocks fall through easily when placed right.

My son is too young (15 mos) to enjoy all the features just yet, but he does love Lego Duplos. For now this is simply a great way to add more blocks to his collection. The tub has enough room left in it that you can add 20 to 25 more blocks to the set (we added the DUPLO LEGO Ville Baby Zoo V70 (4962). You could also add duplo bricks that correspond with the already existing colors (red, orange, yellow, blue, green and brown) and use this toy as a color sorter.

Overall, I think this is a genius idea. We didn't have a shape sorter yet, as most I've found are too easy to debunk (i.e. take the lid off and just use as a fill and spill toy). This sorter will be challenging, but fun enough to encourage a toddler not to take a short cut. The sorting lids also function as a template for building the elephant, giraffe, and parrot.

I'm very satisfied with this purchase (gift from Grandma and Grandpa, really). Lego has the MSRP set at $19.99, which is worth it.

I do not agree with the previous reviews; I think it is a BAD shape sorter. My 2-year-old manages to put almost any block into any slot. I'm also afraid he will eventually (he only got it two weeks ago) break it, because the templates are not very sturdy and he is pushing on it to get the blocks in.....

My daughter really likes the "sorter" tops. She uses it like a puzzle and then makes the little animal figure. It also has a couple of brick styles we didn't have before. The sorter function hasn't turned into a way to get her to clean up voluntarily, but that was probably asking too much.

I brought this for my nine month old baby even though the packaging says for 1.5 years old.
Theo loved it. He didn't had the skill set to "play" with the pieces as intended, but he loved taking the pieces out of the bucket and putting them back in again.
Two months later, it's still one of his favourtite toy (he can spend ten mins pouring over the pieces quietky!). He has started to smash pieces together but still not getting there.
I'm sure he'll figure the building buts soon enough.

This made an interesting teaching moment for my grand-kids on identifying shapes and how things fit. Despite their limited attention span, it provided an ideal teaching moment that held their interest while Grandpa relished in their company.

It's a lot smaller in person however it's pretty nice and of good quality. My 17 month old nephew loves it. Fast shipping paired with a pretty low price make this an excellent gift idea. I would highly recommend it.

On one hand this is great, because there are templates to follow in order to make a variety of cute animals. On the other hand, it might stiffle creativity since there are templates. The little boy i bought it for seemed to think it was pretty cool.

I received these blocks right on time just exactly as I was told that they would arrive. Also I was very pleased with the size of the container that held these blocks and they were a big hit with my 21/2 yr. old grandson for Christmas too!
