Only critique is that the Doc Brown figure from the Lego Dimensions kit has better hair. I saw it on sale at a store and added it for pair o’ Docs (I’m so sorry).
As for the set ... look, there was no way I was passing it up. The Back to the Future trilogy remains one of my favorite film series, and I relished the chance to own a Lego version of the iconic DeLorean. This set contains both Marty and Doc minifigures (both featuring two different facial expressions), along with a skateboard for Marty. It provides the pieces and instructions to build one of three different configurations of the DeLorean. I went with the Part III version as it includes the steam punk-ish electronics on the hood which (a) look cool and (b) cover up a hood design that's stepped instead of sloped and doesn't look all that great in the Part I and II versions.
There are other things about the design that aren't ideal. The fact that both characters don't seem to fit inside the vehicle at the same time is a bummer. And the doors that open upward (just like in the movie) are cleverly constructed but flimsy as hell. They're connected by a single stud and will fall off if you're opening and closing them too much.
Still, any negatives are made up for by the fact that the wheels are designed to rotate under the car for when you want to put it in flying mode ... and that you can build a Mr. Fusion for the rear ... and that the set comes with both the original "OUTATIME" license plate as well as the bar code plate from the future. It's clear that, despite some design quirks, a lot of love went into this thing. Back to the Future fans should not pass it up.
After watching all the movies it was time to sit down have have some enjoyable father and son time!
In my years I've spend a lot of time building Legos but nothing beats sitting down with my son and building Lego creations together!
401 pieces! I was a surprised by how many pieces were needed to create this awesome Lego! Very happy with the instructions! This Lego was really easy to put together however I don't think son (only 8 y/o) could have finished alone. Lego recommends 10+ and I agree.
After a little more then an hour we finished,
I love that with just a few changes you can change the DeLorean to match the individual movies. Well played Lego!!!!
Great toy! Worth every penny. Fun project to work on on with your kids on a rainy afternoon.
Generation X dad gives this toy two huge thumbs up!
Generation X son also gives this toy two thumbs up!

Excellent addition to my Lego Ideas collection, though it's quite clear it comes as the start of Lego Ideas as it isn't quite as sturdy as, say, Ecto 1 or Wall-E. Bits do fall off it, if you're not careful. Also be aware that neither the Marty/Doc Brown figures actually fit in the Delorean - they're just too tall. Rather disappointed with that, but, it's a great display piece all the same.
The build itself was very satisfying with a mixture of simple and more complex elements. The way in which the different features like the gullwing doors and the 'flight mode' wheels are implemented is fantastic, and very satisfying to see functioning in the finished result. It looks incredibly accurate both in scale and detail; there is printing on interior elements like the flux capacitor which adds a certain level of depth and authenticity to the set, and the minifigures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown are brilliantly accurate and detailed with front and back printing.
Price wise, I would have expected a slightly larger build, but since it is designed to be accurate in scale for a minifigure, it's hard to complain, not to mention the fact that this set really is an item for fans and collectors, and looks great as a stationary model.
Overall, this set was a great purchase, and it succeeded in kickstarting my love for building Lego sets again, can't recommend it enough.
No pieces missing at all, box in mint condition, very fast delivery, absolutely fantastic purchase. Price is quite a hike for this size of Lego set but considering it is not being made anymore I was more than understanding of the price, and happy to pay for it, his joy when opening the present was worth every penny!
On the contrary of what other people might have say, it is very easy to build! it didn't even took him an hour! So I believe it's a big expensive for the time it takes, otherwise, really, it looks great and i got it very fast!
its up to you how badly you want it!
I love the fact that the model can be converted into the three different movie versions of the Delorian. A nice addition to my collection.
