This is very well designed. The lessons are well structured and the logic of the programming is intuitive.
Our almost six year old boy started doing it with an instructor and loved it. So we went out and bought him his own. He LOVES it. And we love seeing the pride he takes in making the projects and then programming them. We can see the progress he has made. That is largely because of how well thought out this is.
This isn’t cheap but we think it was a great purchase.

I know these are intended for group classroom use, but having a 7yr old as a lab partner at home has been a ton of fun and he begs to jump right into the next one when we complete an exercise. It's very educational, the app teaches kids about various science items (earthquakes, gears, speed, etc) all while they get to learn how to assemble block-style coding events to run it. Has been a great at-home educational aid for home-schooling during COVID-19 stay at home orders.

I bought 8 of these for a robotics class. We pair up with 4th and 5th graders and assemble a different unit every 1-2 weeks. These are expensive units, but they are durable and come in an organizing box that can be easily stacked for storage. My only issue was that the software needed to operate the robots has very specific requirements and we had to buy new devices to make them work, but I guess that’s part of it, right?

its a great setup to be able to use MIT's online Scratch programming and then have the Lego components interact. He's been able to do some cool functions.
I'd give it six stars if it weren't for the price! I'm not sure why this is so expensive. If a competitor had a knock-off i'm sure they could sell the kit for $40-50.

bought one of these for my Grandson aged 7. He is a Lego devotee. when we finally got it working (see below) He cracked the building and coding quite quickly and then lost interest as its integration into his wider Lego passion was not as an exciting proposition as we had hoped. Whilst undoubtedly a very clever future leaning tool the limitations to integration do not become clear until after you buy it. As for getting it working, here comes the caveat - between my son and I we have Ipads , tablets and laptops including MS Surface out of 5 machines we could only get system wireless integration with one of these. The rest simply ignored the WeDo. I should further expand on this as I have just retired from the tech support arm of a multinational tech firm and my son is the IT leader for a major UK charity so no lack of expertise on our behalf. To be fair Dad and granddad had a great Christmas day whilst grandson watched bereft - takes you back to your first train set you couldn't get near because the grown ups were playing with it. I have to be fair given it three months to monitor its value to my grandson. As it (finally) performs as suggested I cant give it 1 star, but as it underwhelms the child's expectations I cannot give it 5 so a happy medium 3 and a warning caveat. Very expensive for what it is

As before, it's designed to teach kids the basics of robotics, thanks to the Mindstorm-like sets. The new kit also replaces the old USB cables with a Bluetooth LE hub that connects to the motors and tilt sensors.
