I have been a HP fan since I was a child and my 12yr old recently overcame her fear of snakes so we binged the HP movies and this game was a b-day present because of her love of them! We play together and even though I'm 28 I have had a blast playing! She has too! The game isn't timed (thank goodness), if your character dies you respawn pretty quickly and it's not the end of the world. There's so much to explore, you learn how to make your character cast spells, and even though some details are different from the movie, it's still so darn fun! I recommend this game highly and can't wait to play the 5-7 set after this!

I have now played the game twice through and love it, although neither time have I been able to reach 100% completion. THIS GAME HAS GLITCHES!
The game is definitely worth buying, but before playing it I would suggest reading about the glitches in the game online so that you can avoid making the same mistakes I have made. The first time through I lost my entrance circle to the Griffindor Common Room. After some searching online, I was not the only person to have this happen. Apparently, if a non-Griffindor character attempts to enter the common room, the lighted circle will disappear and the portrait will just sing, never opening the door. The way to avoid this glitch is make sure you always use a Griffindor character AND get all the red bricks, gold bricks, and characters pieces, out of the dorm as soon as possible in case you loose the circle. I avoided this the second time around by playing the game straight through the story line and not playing the free play until after completing all 24 story lines. The second time around at this game, I followed my own advice and got to 99.9% done. Unfortunately I still need one character stud in order to 100% complete the game. That character stud is in Hogwarts castle, unfortunately what I didn't know was that when you build the last bonus level after finding all 200 gold bricks, if you immediately play the level, once you obtain Voldemort, you can no longer reenter the castle. Prior to building the last level I had 2 characters to find at 98.8% complete. When I realized I needed to go back to Knockturn Alley to find a character I did just that and built and played the level. Unfortunately the game does not warn you that once you play this level you are unable to go back to the castle. So, the game as it stands is complete at 99.9%. At first I thought maybe I was doing something wrong or once you have voldemort you need to enter the castle a different way, I did a search online and found many players ran into this issue.
I really enjoy playing the game, these were 2 of the glitches I have encountered as well as the game freezing up on me a few times, but overall it is well worth the buy. I do have all the previous released Lego games with the exception of Lego Rock Band (which didn't interest me), I would definitely rank this game as high as Star Wars the original trilogy game. Star Wars being first and this being tied with Batman for second. It is definitely worth the buy and it will keep you entertained for hours, just read about the glitches first in order to avoid them.

Most of the other Harry Potter games I have played in the past do not follow the books/movies all that well, but this one (Lego Harry Potter) follows them very well! I was quite pleased and had a smile on within the first 5 minutes of game play. It's a very cute game, has it's comical moments, while still staying true to the Harry Potter story itself. I enjoy listening to the background music in this game as well because it comes straight from the movie itself, unlike other past Harry Potter games I have played that insert their own music. I'll admit that the controls are a little funny to get used to at first, but I quickly caught on to how it all works and it is now second nature to me. You use both the wii remote and nunchuck to play this game.
Overall, this game is a must for Harry Potter and Lego game fans. I would highly recommend this game. It is a lot of fun. I should add that I also own Lego Star Wars for the Playstation 2 as well. If you enjoyed Lego Star Wars, or probably any Lego game for that matter, and enjoyed it then Harry Potter is just as fun =)
UPDATE as of 1/23/2011: I decided to bump this from 5 stars to 4 stars. Why, you may ask? Well, I ran into a glitch that caused me a lot of problems. I got to a part in my game where I had to use magic to put lego pieces together in order to continue on with the story. Well, one of the lego pieces got stuck and continually disappeared, then reappeared, then disappeared, and then reappeared over and over and over again! I in turn kept attempting to use my magic to move the puzzle piece, but it kept disappearing too quickly to give me a chance to fix the glitch! I then quit the game and tried going back in a second time to see if it would go back to normal, but the glitch was apparently saved, so that was no help at all. At first I thought I had to start all over again, which angered me to no end because I was pretty far into the game. What I did instead was repeated another level from start to finish. Amazingly, this fixed the glitch. I replayed a previous level I had already beaten, and then when I went back to the level with the glitch I realized it disappeared!! I was finally able to continue!
It's unfortunate that I have to knock off a star due to a glitch problem, but it does ruin the fun when you have to replay another level just to fix a problem with the game. If it wasn't for glitches I would have kept it at 5 stars.

i love lego games. started with Pirates of the Caribbean, soon added Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Batman, etc.
as lego games go, this one annoyed me to the point that it's the only one i haven't gotten 100% completion in.
as Harry Potter games go, however, it's quite good. my roommate loved it.
specific dislikes i had: there were things you had to do between levels that didnt count as levels but looked like levels. it was very confusing. also cycling through spells when you have multiple on the same compass point is difficult. many times in the first year i had to use walkthroughs to figure out what i was supposed to do. probably less of an issue for someone who both (a) knows harry potter better, and (b) plays a larger variety of video games, so doesn't get stuck in patterns of "this is how it's supposed to work"

I bought this game for my 5 year old twin boys for Christmas. They are fans of Roblox and the characters in this game are a lot like that (expect of course with better graphics). I like that the game requires problem solving skills to figure out how to past levels. My game arrived a few days earlier than quoted and in new condition (original packaging) as stated by seller.

The game came in a timely fashion and was in perfect working condition. Literally the only thing missing was the original case but it did come with a simple clear CD case so it was at least protected. I would buy from this dealer again without a doubt.
