As for the Imperial Troop Transport, it is way too under scale to use with the other Star Wars Rebels sets' vehicles. It comes off looking like a golf cart version of the Troop Transport and not something I would use in my collection, much less army build (unlike some other Battle Pack vehicles that are nicely scaled for their size). LEGO should have made a larger version of the Troop Transport as another set, and the Battle Pack could have been a couple down sized Imperial Speeder Bikes (like the one in set 75090 Ezra's Speeder Bike) and still would have been nicely scaled with the other Rebels sets.
So all in all, four stars for four great Stormtrooper minifigs, but the transport vehicle is not so great, better used for parts.
This set can still be found at retail price at many local retailers, so buyer beware if you buy from a 3rd party seller at a significantly higher price.
I'm very happy with the stormtroopers themselves. The printing is clean, the blue on their helmets really pops, and the details on their armor is great. I'm now also a fan of the stud blasters and was happy to see four included here. However, what separates Lego from different companies that just release character action figures is the SET. And this set is pretty generic.
I feel like Lego was set on the transport idea but failed to capitalize on it. For instance, this set does not include the awesome Rapid Shooter that is included with the Senate Commandos and the Geonosis Troopers. Since this is landing craft and close fire support is essential, the rapid shooter would have been the perfect addition; after all, an old school launcher is included. The inclusion of the crate for studs isn't bad but I can't help but feel like Lego settled on the design, opting for the easier, cheaper crate over the newer offering. I can just see someone sitting at the conference table saying, "Stormtroopers are enough. Our customers will buy it anyway."
I love stormtroopers and really wanted to love this set. But the magic isn't there. I guess I'm frustrated because I know that I'm going to buy a bunch of copies of this set so I can receive a boatload of stormtroopers. Unfortunately the rest of the sets that will accompany them will just end up in the spare parts bin.
Firstly, the Star Wars design on the box is very nice. I think it’s the best I’ve seen so far. The orange and grey colors look very cool. Hope LEGO retains this design at least for some years to come.
The four minifigs are exactly the same, except for the headpiece. Two have one kind and two have slightly different one. The helmet is again, the same for all four. The printing on the torso and legs is quite nice. (Wish there was printing on the side of torso and legs too. Then it would have looked even better). The helmet design and printing is VERY good! I don’t have many white storm troopers to boast of, but this one has to be one of the best ever! Each minifig comes with a blaster. This is the one that fires a stud. I really LOVE these blasters. A very creative and appealing design from LEGO.
The Imperial Troop Transport, the main attraction of the set, is bit disappointing. It doesn’t look that good. The middle part, that carries the troopers is still okay, but the front and the back are very dull. In fact, when you look at it, it doesn’t look like a vehicle at all. The front has two guns, which are actually technic pins. The problem is that they look like, well, technic pins ..instead of guns! LEGO could have used some other brick to indicate guns. There is a turret on the roof of the vehicle which is a rotating dual flick missile, which doesn’t look good. The turret could have been a better design. In the middle of the vehicle, there are four “holders”, for keeping the four blasters. The problem with each holder is that you should be little careful while putting the blaster on the holder else you’ll end up firing the blaster.Read more ›
